Okay, to get that $149.99 you have to deal with a mail-in rebate, but it's from Newegg so it shouldn't be a problem.
Here's the relatively small hoops you have to jump through for that rebate.

What characteristics about these gives them this stigma? Low end problems from the second driver? How do they differ from the 6311's? Seems like a nice set for the price.

Yup, the Classics offer a phenonemal value, however you may not want to use their internal DAC's as they are not as good as the touch and IIRC are limited to 24/96 instead of 24/192 like the Touch...

Any one familiar with Watkins WSC-1a speakers? Seems like there are a few positive reviews and they are certainly cheap enough.

These are a great speaker at that price. The designer and builder is from Kingsport TN about 15 miles from me and I have met him on a few occasions. He's in his 80's now and I had a pair of those that I had him sign the back of for me. He is famous for the double voice coil woofer used in some of the larger Infinity speakers back in the day. He had the patent I believe and sold the rights to Infinity or something along those lines.

Jim if you don't want them for $25 I really do but am 3 hrs away. Will be going down to Colombia SC on Thursday and could probably swing by if you get them for $25- I'll pay you $50 for them.....

Their weakness is the surrounds tend to disintegrate and need to be redone as well as the capacitors are pushing over 30yrs so could use a refresh. In good working order, I'd put them in the company of large advents and KLH 6's. Definitely worth $25.

I will contact him and see if he has them available. If I don't want them, you can of course have them for his sale price of $25. I certainly wouldn't ask for anything extra. The problem is my schedule. I probably couldn't get them before the weekend and therefore couldn't have them for you on Thursday. I will be working 8 - 5 Wed. through Fri. and have some other stuff after work. Today I am working 11-8PM and have to leave for work now.
