Thanks for the history lesson. However. I'm confused, I thought the WW2 ended in 45, so what took them so long to come up with a peace treaty, or does it always take that long after a war ends?

Essentially a "technicality" since Japan had already "surrendered" in 1945 and the U.S. OCCUPATION that pretty much "restructured" the Japanese Gov't and family and tore apart its military capacity had already begun in August of 1945 and had certainly accomplished its most significant changes by the early '50s--one of my Grad Profs was a senior member of that occupation force. That U.S occupation lasted about a decade--during that time America wielded the real power in Japan. A number of Treaties were precipitated in the early '50s, mostly in response to the Cold War.

1946, I waited till the end of WWII before arriving. Better said, my father came home on leave from the RAF at Christmas and I was born September 25th. It must have been a right Merry Christmas!

    Ah, the Summer of Love.
As for me, I'm a makeup baby.
Tragically for my parents, their 3 month old baby passed away and I was conceived shortly thereafter.
I dated a girl name Bobbi Jo back in the mid 90's. She was a waitress and was behind the bar pouring some beers when I walked up to her for the first time. I looked at her name tag and said, "Bobbi Jo... your parents must have really hated you!" She replied, "I had a brother named Robert that died before I was born!" And she walked off. The bartender that was standing nearby and heard everything just stood there and looked at me with a blank expression on her face. I said, "Well, I guess I didn't get any points for that one." Later that night after a couple beers, I asked Bobbi Jo for her number and we ended up dating for six months, so I guess she didn't mind my comment too much. True story.
