Yo, Chumlie: I've been thinking of picking up the box set of Dylan SACDs that came out a while ago, know a guy who has one for sale. How's the sound quality of that Nashville Skyline? Not familiar with the various options out there besides the box set, is that the one you have?

I definately recommend the Mobile Fidelity SACD's of Dylan's work. They don't have a boxed set, but they are releasing a large number of his albums. The sound quality is better, however IMO the sound quality of the Sony SCAD's is pretty darn good. The MFSL SACD's are better though. They are currently still remastering a number of titles so you will have to wait for them to come out. It'll be worth the wait based on the SACD's that have been released already.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Headrott: thanks for the advice. Actually, I would prefer to buy them separately, truth be told, as there are a few in the boxed set that I wouldn't listen to very much. And they guy I know will only sell them all together as the boxed set, which he probably should. I figured if the quality of the boxed set were all that, maybe I'd spring, but if the Mobile Fidelity are better its a no-brainer. Thanks again.

I'm a huge fan and really enjoy the mono box set. As far as SACD's go, the SQ on Nasville Skyline is excelent. If ya can get that SACD box for a reasonable price ($200 or less) grab it. The mofi SACD's are great too but generally cost 2 to 3 times what the sony SACD's do. IMO the mono box can't be beat. And yes i have heard them all (mono cd, mofi and sony sacd) But to be honest, once i got used to the mono the stereo versions just didn't sound right to me.

Msabot1, I totally agree the Mick Taylor era produced some of the best Stones' work. And they let him play one song during the recent O2 concerts, Midnight Rambler I think. Keith cuts him down pretty hard in his book, says he just stood there. Whatever. We have a real blizzard here today, a 45 minute ride to work took almost 2 hours. Listened to the Marshall Mather album in the car. Real loud. Its hard to believe people will tailgate on the interstate in a blizzard.

Yea the tensions between those two led to Taylor's leaving the group, sort of like when two gals try to run the same household! Midnight rambler is very good on Get Yer Ya Ya's Out. Good on the 4 Flics video set too! Think I'll put that on and turn it up!! By the way, glad to hear you had no probs driving.....People around here can't drive when it's dry out!! lMAO!!
