I always use Paypal. I dont think they charge you any fees for receiving money, if you open a personal account. I think it is the way to go, it would be best for both you and the seller if any problems arise. Im not saying I dont trust you but I think it is a safe bet for both seller and buyer. And it saves me the hassle of going to the post office and I can just click away! :D
You can see Im the cautious type. And yes I have full insurance on my car too not just liability :p

Paypal is a great service but, it is only free to the buyer. The seller who gets the funds pays the fee. A $500 transaction could cost you $25. You should check to get an exact amount.

I read about a 3% charge. If we go paypal, then I will have to ask for the 3% difference.Which comes in around 15 bucks.....

Here's the link to the paypal page on fees....they do not charge any fee on payments from checking accounts (thats how I intend to pay) if you are a private seller like Dan.

    http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_display-fees-outside

If you are paying from your checking account, just go get a cashiers check or mo. That or send a damn check and let it clear. The time all this talking is taking, he'd almost have the check in his hands.

Why force paypal on someone that doesn't want to use it?

    Cheers,

PayPal is in business to make money and they do charge a 3% fee to the seller. As far as PayPal being safe......HA! Those **** offer ZERO protection for neither the buyer or the seller. I know that from personal experience. If you want safe use www.escrow.com, they charge a 6% transaction fee. A USPS money order is actually a pretty good way to go, if you get stiffed by somebody it becomes a Federal offense.

Dan is 100% legit, no worries.

    Sorry to butt in :)

If you pay some one through a paypal account and it's linked to your checking or bank account there is no fee for sending (paying) or, receiving (being paid) money transfers from another person's PP account that is linked in this manner.

Fees are only incurred when you use "plastic" for your purchase or if you are being paid in a different currency other than American greenbacks. I have paid, received payments, and refunds linked throught a checking/bank account and have never, ever paid PP a fee. You can choose to leave the money in a PP-type bank account for use in other PP activity, or you can easily transfer the money to your regular checking/bank account--takes about 2-3 days.

I've been using PP for over 3 years. Yes, it can be difficult to rectify a situation if something goes wrong and you need to file a claim--if you paid through your credit card then PP will place the responsibility of correcting the problem on your CC company--which is typical. There are ways to make PP act on your behalf--if you word your complaint properly and/or indicate that "fraud" occurred as part of the claim, then PP will act on your behalf. Been there, done that (unfortunately)...

Personally though, I don't think you will have a problem dealing with anyone on this forum--I believe people are here to help, to share, to enjoy, and are on the up and up.

Good luck and have fun--enjoy

I have used them, they suck, they do not care, they could give a crap, etc. etc. etc. etc.

    Example:

I just bought a rack from venomclan who uses them and I must say feels they are OK, so I send the funds on my Credit Card, after they charge my card a screen pops up and says venomclan does not have an account with them that accepts Credit Card but he will be offered a chance to upgrade his account.

So I call PP and say hey, just cancel the Credit Card transaction I will send a MO, they refuse and say if venom does not upgrade his account within the next THIRTY DAYS then they will cancel the transaction, or if he denys upgrading the account.

Now Venom is a good guy so he upgrades his account and everything is OK, but that is Venom someone else who knows, the point is I contacted them by phone within 10 minutes of the charge. They would do nothing for me even though it was my card being charged.

This is the second problem I have had with them and have read lots of horror stories about accounts being frozen etc. The majority of problems are for the sellers not the buyers, why do you think they want your checking account # so badly??

Mantis is an absolute stand up guy here. He is offering a great set of speakers. If the buyer had been around here a bit he would know, I totally agree he should not have to use PayPal.

    Paypal, they suck.

Mantis is a good guy, I wouldn't worry at all. He just doesn't want to do the paypal, ebay or audiogon stuff. I've purchased from him and sold a few things to him. I've also met him twice and can say he is not out to take anything from anyone. For what it's worth he could sell these for more elswhere but doesn't want the hassle.

I called him back and asked him if he had any LSi speakers at all and he told me that he's got LSi15's....since all LSi's have the same timbre and match each other, Im gonna guess that the 9's lack bass and are a bit thicker in the lower midrange. Taking that into account Im gonna audition the 15's this evening. I will tell you if I liked them or not and if I would like to buy the 9's from you this evening. I think that would be best on my part. Kris

The 9's sound very close to the 15's with less bass as expected. If you like the 15's you'll like the 9's.

Funny I just had the 9's out Yesterday.Such nice speakers.

Have fun with your demo man.

Well, if I was just a layman I would have said that the demo sucked.....the receiver used to audition was the Denon AVR2805S....I personally dont like Denons and this added insult to the injury lol too many sibilants, odd yes odd bass, sometimes u feel it, sometimes you dont....otherwise, the sound was thin at some frequencies with other frequencies emphasized (that can be construed as emphasis on some instruments and some dont get the emphasis). All in all a totally different sound compared to the RTi line, but very similar to RTi's in some aspects (the characteristic polk sound is there too).
I know they should sound better with a nice amp and 100 hrs of break-in.....these LSi15's had only 10 hrs on them. Im placing my bets on the advice given on this thread as far as break in is concerned. The tweeter has an extended high, which was pretty clear when I started noticing background noise on one of my AAD recordings which I knew was there, but sometimes used to disappear on not so good speakers. The flute sounded airy too.
Im only concerned about those sibilants...Im sure it must have been something else at fault, have to investigate....probably the DVD they had, it was a live recording (Roger Walters). Otherwise everything else has a logical explanation....Denons dont match up well with some speakers, Ive had this same experience personally. And the bass....probably because they could not move the subs and tweak with placement. It makes sense to go with the 9's and subs so placement doesnt mess up the bass.
Finally...I'd like to buy the LSi9 from you. If I dont like them after I listen to them in my room (I know the weaknesses of my receiver pretty well, they will be included in the final equation so to speak) they will be back on sale here. The thing is I'd be happy if we figured a way out regarding payment etc etc.

Man you guys make it hard to sell stuff.

How about this, I'll be the mediator. Send me the speakers, send me the check, and if all is well I'll cash the check, listen to the speakers and take a nice vacation. :D

They are in brand new condition.they have lived in my closet other then the demo time I have on them.Flawless.

You can Email me and we will get this going.I have the orignal boxes for safe delivery.

    Dmantis20@aol.com

I will email you my address for payment.Unless you still wanna do the paypal thing(I'd rather not).Money order, personal check, cashiers check is all cool my man.

As for the Denon, not a good match for Lsi as you heard.I owned a Denon before I bought Rotel, then B&K.Lsi series speakers as you read around this site are demanding speakers. They are unforgiving and will show off any flaws in your system.

Thanks alot man and enjoy the speakers,
    Dan
