speakers too small?

Hi everyone,
I have had my system set up for about a year now and have all ways thought I could either get more out of it or wondered if my equipment was suited for my space. When I stand under my speakers I hear much more detail than when I am seated and makes me wonder if this series of speaker and if 16 gauge wire is big enough for this room. Any insight would help.
Room
15 1/2' w x 17 1/2' l.
HK ARV 25/7
Polk RM6750 series 5.1
Samsung 52"
Center channel under TV on cabinet.
Left and Right mounted in front corners of room at ceiling.
L & R surrounds mounted in back corners of room at ceiling
I just got the OK from the wife to remount the left and right speaker to the sides of the tv at ear level rather than in the front corners of the room.
Are my speakers too small for my room?

That will help a lot. Maybe ask Santa for some new speakers!!!!If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.
