Well I got FXIA6 for the sides, I am still leaning toward the A5's over the A3's for the rear. Am I nuts? you guys have been a big help.

I wouldn't even mess with rears unless I had 9.x set up and was looking to go 11.x

Personally, I've experimented with all three channels over the standard 5.x using explosive sound tracks with lots of jets, rockets and gun fire. It's a toss up between the rears and heights as to which one gets the least amount of content.

IF I had to no other choice and HAD to go with rears, I'd add a pair of FXiA4's to my existing FXiA6's in surround.

I have a 7.2 system having both rear and side surrounds. Frankly, I'm not too sure I would add the rear surrounds if I had to do it again. There is not much pre-mixed 7.1 content out there and many believe a properly balanced 5.1 system can outshine a poorly planned 7.1 system.

Yeah, I've heard this before as well. In fact, some will swear a properly set up 5. will beat any 7.

When I went to a 5. from a 7. after selling my Monitors (and using M70's as wides), I really noticed the difference, my front stage was lacking for sure.

Once I replaced my wides with another set of towers, I was happy again, my front stage was much fuller. Check this out, especially the last paragraph........

Good read guys how about 4 RTIA 9 up front. LS/LW/RS/RW CSIA6/ and use the FXIA6 as sides or rears? This would however change the Amp set up a little.

That is a good article. I've often wished I could trade my rear surrounds for direct firing front wides. However, my home is not set up for that so I'm stuck with sides and rears for now.

Now you're gettin' it!!! Forget the rears, go A9's across the front the CSiA6. I even move my FXiA6's to the side of the listening area instead of slightly in front of, my dipoles are pulling double duty as surrounds and pseudo rears.
