I have purchased an Adcom GFA 555 and connected it to my Denon 4311CI to drive my LSI 15's. I thought that once I added the amp that I won't have to turn up the volume as much? Now the amp works because I have much better bass and I don't dare go to the top end of the volume control. Just curious.

well, it's not about Vol. What you gain with the adcom over your Denon is just a few dB. Plus, that Denon has a good amp to start with already.
it's the sound, clarity, soundstage that you're gaining.

Yeah it was a great improvement in the soundstage and clarity. This is just the first test of the separate amp waters and I wanted to see how it was before I dive in.

Good to break in with some Lsis which benefit from the Adcom because of their inherently laid back nature. The Adcom won't have any of that. Neutral, detailed and tight to a fault! Many don't like them with "brighter" speakers!

    Enjoy!

You're benefitting from better damping factor, higher current, more headroom, and better capacitance.

Yeah I still have to rerun Audyssey. You know how it is with a new toy. Want to hurry up a play with it.
