Hi guys,

Making room for more stuff, so I'm cleaning out the closets.

I have a pair of RT55's, a CS400, and a pair of RT/FX surrounds looking for a new home. As many of you know I have owned pretty much everything in the RT series and these are pieces I have as extras from buying package deals. I'd rate them as an 8 or 9 out of 10. There are a few minor scratches, but nothing serious, and they all sound great. Grilles are all intact and all the pegs are still there.

I have bought and sold LOTS of Polk speakers and other gear from Polk forum members and have always had perfect feedback. I've been an eBay member for over twelve years and have well over 250 transcations with zero negative or neutral feedback. I do this for fun, and no one has fun if there is a problem.

It makes more sense to sell this a set, so I'm pricing everything together. I'm looking for $500 plus shipping from Atlanta.

I have photos but would prefer to email them to an interested buyer instead of using Polk's bandwidth.

Please contact me via PM. First PM is first in line.

As you know, RT55's are easy to sell. I'm trying to make some space as much as fund a new project, so I'd like to keep them together for now. You could always buy the lot and sell off what you don't want.

If I do part them out, you are first in line for the RT55's.

I'd also consider a trade for a pair of RT55's in rosewood......

Thought of trying to recover them in rosewood vinyl? Not sure where to look. I do not see any listed on PE's site.

Actually I haven't, but probably should. I've got a 7.1 setup with a RT5000 system and I use a pair of RT3000p sats for rear surrounds. They are black and I've tried to arrange a swap a couple times for a rosewood pair. It's always dark in my HT, so it's really not an issue, but it would be nice if it ever happens.

I'll probably eventually upgrade my AV controller to a 9.1 capable unit and then could use the RT55's as either height channels or swap with the RT3000p sats and use them for height since they are smaller. A set of rosewood Rt55's woud make that all 'matchy' as well, but again, not a real priority. If I can sell the black RT55's along with the CS400 and RT/FXs I think I should. I can pick up a set of rosewood speakers later.

I'm not even sure if the RT55's have the same rosewood finish as the RT3000p's.

Guys, any of you with older sat systems, this is a good step up for you. A complete 5 channel surround of this quality for 100 bucks a speaker is a no brainer. Matter of fact, having owned these exact speakers, I would take these over the current monitor line any day of the week.

Shameless plug for ya OP, but hate to see a good set of speakers sit in the FM for very long.

    Thanks tonyb!

I really hate to split this set up for a couple of reasons. First, if I split them up I'll sell the RT55's and maybe the CS400 right away, then have to keep or give away the RT/FXs- and the idea is to clear out some space. Second, this setup is much better than many of the surround setups I've owned - and it's cheap. Someone can buy a great sounding system at a great price.

Came across this old thread and decided I would split up the set.

RT55's - $200 plus shipping. I have the original, single box, so shipping is a LOT less than in two boxes.

RT/FX make an offer. Nice condition. Works great or use for parts.

    CS400 - I'm keeping it, but have a CS175 for $60 shipped in CONUS.

Here are some photos of the RT55's. I have three pairs and would pick the best ones for you. One set is in a cabinet, so cosmetics don't matter. They are all really nice cosmetically, so I don't have a preference - but you might. If you are in the Atlanta metro you can come pick the pair you want.

Yep. I made him an offer and instead of countering, he decided to make a public post insulting my offer instead of a counter. Check eBay, which offers buyer protection through Paypal and eBay both. Sold listings for $50-80 shipped. Current listing with 1 bite at that top end of $80 shipped.

Just a little bit about selling etiquette, don't say "Make me an offer" and then be insulted enough to make a public post degrading the offer and expect a counter offer.

And Ken, I guess I missed the private message where you were asked. Way to troll.

I posted a reply to your offer in the thread to ensure that you got the message, not to make it a public issue. Sometimes folks don't get PMs unless they set up their profile to send them a notification email. Just wanted to close the loop.

I told you in the PM that I was not insulted, although you did apologize in advance in case I might have been by your low offer. By your own statements your offer was a good bit below market prices.

Sorry if you were insulted, either by my post explaining that $50 was below packing and shipping prices (didn't say that you made the offer, BTW) or by my lack of a counter offer to your offer. Again, not my intent.

Just to set the record straight, here's an example of a 'public post degrading your offer instead of a counter':

"Thank you ZLTFUL for your lowball offer. You seem not to have noticed that the merchandise is described as being in good cosmetic and working condition. You price is so far below the current market level that the amount offered will not even cover packing and shipping. Even if I had found these on my doorstep and had absolutely nothing in them, I would still be a fool to pack them up, take them to FedEx or UPS, and pay more than you offered to ship them to you. I am insulted that you would make such an offer, especially since even a cursory look at eBay pricing would indicate clearly that the lowest sale price on record is $86 shipped and another sold for $106. A current set has an ask price of $80 shipped. The level of trust and sense of community between most Polk Forum members means we typically sell gear to each other for prices lower than eBay, partly because of no selling fees here, but mostly because we find that most Polkies are good guys who are in this to have fun. The prices asked are usually fair, and lowballing is pretty much universally frowned upon as bad etiquette. If a member wants to give away something (literally or figuratively) they set the price - not the buyer. Lowballing is bad form. Do it often and you will probably be invited to trade elsewhere.

A post count of 100 plus required to participate in the sales section of the forum is intended to discourage folks who don't share this sense of community and might intend to make this more about money than having fun. This requirement doesn't screen out everyone, obviously. Hehe."

That, is a 'public post degrading the offer.' That is NOT what I did.

Lots of people ignore lowball offers. I think that's rude. Maybe that's what I should have done in this case.

In any case, I apologize if my intent to communicate clearly was misinterpreted. I'm sorry if the fact that I thought your offer was so low that a counter offer was a waste of time insulted you. Not my intent. I just didn't think you were serious, but wanted to pay you the courtesy of a response. And I wanted to ensure that you got it.

And as far as ken brydson's comment, this IS a forum and members can comment as they see fit. I don't think his comments earned the name of 'troll', however. No one called you a name, so let's all be nice and have fun here.

I vote for the "set the record straight post". It is much more to the point and leaves no room for interpretation.

Just trying to lighten up the thread a bit. If I was local or even passing through, that set-up would be in my hme by now. It is what I currently run but would like to have a back up system just in case.

So I make an offer as a starting point, instead of making a counter, you think I won't be willing to go anywhere with my offer. It shows you have no willingness to budge on some amount you have in your head so why not post this mystery number instead of asking for offers? Now I am not saying "make me an offer" is against for sale forum posting rules but that is simply bad form especially when you refuse an offer out of hand with no counter. You have a minimum price in your mind and NO ONE can know that without making an offer first. The process of negotiation is simple. I make an offer, normally then the seller makes a counter. It isn't rocket science but you seem to think that you are special. That until someone guesses your asking price, you don't have to give even a hint at what you expect to receive for them.
I have bought several items from members of this forum and it all started with offers and counter offers. It is the simple act of negotiation.
Fine, my next offer is $60. We can keep playing this stupid game until you make a counter or I guess upon your mysterious number.
Fact is, I really wanted them and would have gone into the neighborhood of eBay prices but you chose to make it into some kind of p!ssing contest.
Good luck with the sale. You'll need it. You've made it obvious why it's taken you nearly a year to even get an offer.

But you're right, you are obviously a much larger contributor to this community because of your post count that you have. *rolls eyes*

Quit being a jerk! You knew full well that your offer was an insult then added fuel to the whole thing with your ebay comment. Being nice doesn't cost anything and makes friends. And to add, No, I don't want to be your friend.

If you haven't already, hold off on donating the RT/FX's. I might have a use for them. Can you post some pics? Do you have the boxes?

So you're the guy who keeps scarfing up all the good stuff there! It's just up the street from my house.
