Cleaning a record with wood glue

I am a vinyl noob, but I have never heard of this. And would not have thought it would work.

    I purchased one of those paint tools that gets you close to the trim which has a very soft nap. Any used album I buy gets washed with that, a very small amount of dawn detergent, and water at the kitchen sink. I then lay the vinyl between two paper tools and gently press but don't rub. Gets them really clean.

    I ran across a guy selling a Nikon D100 DSLR on CL for cheap. He was a pro and said the camera had only one problem. He tried to clean the sensor himself with what he described as an industry trade secret... Scotch tape. That is right, apply the sticky side to the sensor and pull. The problem was that some of the adhesive stuck to the sensor.

    Ive done this on some old albums to try it out and it worked quite well. They were stored in a damp basement and had who knows what on there surface. I took pretty much everything off of them.

    I used the glue method with a couple of hard-to-find LP's that were really dirty and that my normal cleaning didn't seem to remove enough pops/ticks to get them to a reasonable level. It works. I did mix a little Dawn dish detergent in the glue to get it into the grooves better. I would only go to the effort/risk as a last resort, however it's not as goofy as it sounds.
