I've got a feeling there's going to be alot of big SUV's and other low MPG vehicles on the used market in the weeks/months ahead.

I gotta wonder what kind of gas mileage an Xterra gets?

If you are going by the cost when filling the tank then that has nothing to do with your mileage but rather how large your tank is. If you 27-30 dollar figure is a weekly cost figure then you'r doing pretty good.

Full-service is required by law in NJ.

Infact, if your vehicle is parked at pump and filling up, you are not allowed to even leave your car. Getting out of your vehicle is a ticketable offense but cops don't usually enforce it.

Then again, full-service anymore is some arab guy asking you how much gas you want then shoving the pump nozzle into the fuel filler neck, starting the pump and then signing arab pop songs or yelling into a cordless phone in arab at another arab who is yelling back in arab.

My point was, 6 months ago it took 20 bucks to fill my tank, now it cost 30 bucks... Its not real swell on gas either... But we love it and wont be getting rid of it..... Ive figured out what the gas miliage is, But im speaking strictly gas prices... they keep going up and obviously it costs more to fill the tank :)

I thought one thing and wrote another, that didn't come out right.. Its not useing more gas, it just cost 10 bucks more to fill it... There i think i got it right this time, LOL

We just sold our 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with a 5.9 liter V8 and bought a 2004 Toyota 4Runner with a V6...

I'm definitely a happy camper right now...

I average 22 MPG in the 4Runner, which isn't great...but it's much better than 12 MPG in the Jeep...

    $1.69 for 87

S-10 has a 15.3 gallon tank, takes about $25 to fill it (usually 14.3 - 14.7 gallons), get about 360 miles per tank. Modding the intake and exhaust really helped. Prior to mods, I was getting 280-290 / tank.

I really don't even bat an eye at the prices, I have to have it, regardless of cost. Fill her up and GO.

    Cheers,

Lucky you. I have a 25 gallon tank that I usually run down to a 1/4 of a tank. Drinks nothing but premium fuel. I get about 280 miles between fill ups. But boy do they go by quickly! Fill ups cost between 25 and 30 dollars usually.

    Russ,

Did you replace the intake? Or what did you do to get 18mpg to 24mpg?

    John,

Yeah, I guess I'm lucky on the MPG side, but seeing as you have probably 3 times the rwhp I do - I think you're pretty lucky too.

    Disney,

The factor S10 intake is pretty restrictive. There is a 'silencer' that can be removed, and capped off. That in conjunction with a K&N seemed to make a worthwile difference.

On the exhaust side, nothing fancy. A Pacesetter header running through a 3" pipe, stock cat, ending at a Flowmaster with downpipe, dumped right behind the cab, under the bed.

All in all, ran maybe $300 including the pipe labor to let that little 2.2 breathe.

On another note, something a lot of people overlook is the fuel filter. If you haven't changed it in a while, get it done at your next oil change - probably won't run you $30, and will not only save your fuel pump, but help with mileage also.

    Cheers,
    Russ

I just had fuel filter replaced when I had to take the truck in to get fixed. Bad head casting, popped a spark plug like a cork under boost. Totally random thing. Gas mileage is about 13-15 city and 15-18 highway. Then again, it is 372 rwhp too. About 435 at the crank and I have the dyno graphs to prove it too.
