SVS AS-EQ1 has been discontinued by SVS. I was checking the website for SVS and did not see it there so I called customer service. I was told that they no longer sell the units due to Audyssey XT32 being so popular. So, hang on to the ones you have as the price will go up due to not having the ability to buy new.
email from Ed Mullen:
Hi Bill:
The AS-EQ1 has been discontinued. Audyssey MultEQ XT32 (now found in many top-end AVRs) essentially has the same performance (duals subs and 512x resolution). You may be able to find a used AS-EQ1 on Audiogon or AVS classified. Thanks for the inquiry, and if you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

With that logic, you should have kept your AS-EQ1 instead of listing it on the Gon now

To get the XT32 which the SVS AS-EQ1 has, you have to layout alot more $$$$ then the cost of the EQ1. Then there are those with non Audyssey AVR's.My 2012 HT Room - http://www.avsforum.com/t/1416077/bsoko2-new-ht-june-2012

I don't think the value will all of a sudden jump up because they're no longer selling them. There's other alternatives out there.

Onkyo TX-NR809 is a pretty mid level avr. MSRP is $1,100. It comes with Audyssey XT. Add $800 bucks to that and your getting close to the MSRP of the Onkyo TX-NR3009 for $2,200 wich comes with Audyssey XT32. And you get all the other benifits of running a higher end AVR and not just a mid grade avr with XT32 equivilant. You get a lot more for your money when buying a built in AVR Audyssey XT32 than buying an add on and running mid level avr.
Then add in the fact that you can get a refurb 2010 Onkyo TX-NR3008 for $1,000 or Onkyo's top of the line TX-NR5008 for $1,500. It makes it hard to justify $800 for an add on when you can get it built in + all the added features of a high end AVR for less cash than the mid level avr + AS-EQ1.AVR: Onkyo Tx-NR808

More and more people who bought the AS-EQ1 are buying the new AVRs with the Audyssey XT32 feature and selling their used AS-EQ1 to recoup the money spent on the new AVR. Not a bad idea...

Now don't bark at me because I haven't done much research. But isn't the AS-EQ1 a glorious sub eq? It's essentially a different device like the SMS-1 from Velodyne but EQ's subs a little differently? (Assuming how this Audyssey does it?)

No worries Drenis. Here is the skinny:
The SMS-1 allows you to EQ mutliple subs AS ONE UNIT. So you can connect 3 different subs up, but it treats them as one unit and applies the same filters/settings to all of them. The SVS model lets you EQ the subs INDEPENDENT of each other. So one sub can have a higher gain than another, have different distances, etc. So if you want to EQ your subs independing w/ the SMS-1 you need one unit per sub you want to EQ. That makes a world of difference in some rooms."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963)
