So I've been interested in Elite receivers, given all the great press, but I can't shell out the 2k necessary for a new one. That's 2-channel type money...

Anyway, is 799 a good deal for one of these SC-07 refurbs? They come with a one year warranty. What huge improvements, if any, happened between the 07, 27, and 37???

Thanks, (mantis, where you at?)

Cheers,

Ben

799 is a wonderful price to pay for a killer receiver. No one really cares about 3D at all. Hardly anyone even asks about it. People who have 3D gear could care less about using it.

The SC-07 is one hell of a receiver and for 799 your getting something that is fantastic and was 2200.00 new just a few years ago.

I can speak first hand I still own mine.

Keep an eye out for the SC-35 that has been popping up on Costco.com for $749. It's a better deal IMO.

Thanks for the input, Dan. Is it worth a few hundred more for a 37, knowing that I don't care about 3d???

    what about a 27 for 949???

Whats the diff in sound quality in regards to the 07 compared to the 05 or 27/25 35/37 ? If theres nothing then $799 seems way overpriced for out of date tech when you can buy a sc35 for $750 shipped .Even if you dont care less about 3D its still good to have so it will hold its price longer for when one decided to take another step up the ladder

From what i've read if you don't need 3d, the 07 in theory will be better than the 35. I know it used Wolfson dac's and has a few other differences, but is a better AVR overall. I love my 35 and have been very happy with it though.

I would agree that the sound quality is comparable. I would chose a newer model just due to the warranty itself. Are the refurbs on ebay coming from Pioneer? Remember, only Pioneer Elites sold in authorized brick & mortar stores are eligible for warranty.

The warranty is from the ebay seller, not Pioneer. This seller has 3000 feedbacks at 100%.

I haven't been reading up on the latest Pioneer products i.e. bd players and recievers on specific numbers and features. Is the SC35 a upgrade and superior over the SC07?

sc-35 @750 shipped, costco would be the better deal. full factory warranty, not refurb, etc. i purchased a sc-25 open box at best buy, no mic or remote for 550. so there is always that possibility.

    good luck

My local Best Buy has the SC-35 on clearance for $799. I'm very tempted, but like most things I don't have a need for it at all. Just want to hear what all the fuss is about, I guess.

Keep in mind they sell new and refurb and specify in the listing. They are a very solid seller...I bought my current Pioneer AVR from them.

    You sure?
    Item condition: Manufacturer refurbished

Hey did you make an offer??? If the seller accepts, let me know what you got him down to...

EDIT: actually, under ebay's item condition and item specifics it says manufacturer refurb, but in the description it says brand new. hmm.

My "lowball" offer was not accepted:redface:

I've been reserching these models and I may just pull the trigger on the SC-05...I think it will be fine for my small room and speakers.
