I have looked for an answer to this question on google and I never find it .I think I might go in the anthem direction but its very expensive
I was thinking about hooking up a bdp via analog to a d1 and using the player to send the video to my projector so my question is regarding the diff in the internal dacs etc when it comes to sound regarding the D1 and D2

I think the D2 only has 5.1 analog input. The main difference between the D1 and D2 was on the video side. The D2 has a True High End Video Processor ( Gennum VXP ). The D2 can transcode and scale to your displays native resolution all S-Video, Component and HDMI video signals. The D2 didn't decode the newer formats like high definition master audio or DD high definition and had HDMI version 1.2 when released ( firmware update could have upgraded this ). Can't confirm yet, but their dosn't seem to be much difference in the Audio side. Not sure if this info helps or not. Use Yahoo, and you can gather additional information.Home Theatre.............

While the anthem is a very nice piece, audio speaking, for the price you can get a top Pioneer Elite. Keep in mind when using analog connections, you lose all the processing in the anthem. Not too many bdp's these days have analog outs,so keep that in mind too. One more thing, when using the analog connections, you have to have all 5.1 speakers. In other words, if you don't have a center channel, that information is lost, no subwoofer, that would be lost too because most re route those signals only in the digital domain.HT SYSTEM-

also make sure you check if you have any type of room correction when using the analog ins. I know that often you will have to use the transport's setting for speaker distance ect. This can be a pain in the butt as they normally are not as nice as what you would get on the AVR.
Also keep in mind there is no DAC that you would be using in the D1 or D2 All the processing is happening by the player not the pre/pro. The players you would need would be like the Pioneer BDP09FD or the new Oppo with the full analog outs. The Pio is nice (I've owned it) but its not 3D so a pain if thats what you really want to run. -

I was offered an anthem mrx300 for $700 or a D! for $600 shipped this weekend but decided to pass up .I was very tempted by the MRX but arc only has half the processing power but it may have made a good pre .I think I may just keep hanging on for a avm50 or D2 to pop up for the right price -
