Yeah, another NF thread. This one actually will make me scratch my head, granted I don't have to worry about it until next year, but a LOT of the movies that we stream, are 'Starz Play', I'd say about a third of them. That's a big dent in the kind of programming we stream. Still, it's only $8, but eh.....

That negotiation has been going on for awhile. STARZ thinks they can do their own distribution or shop their "products" elsewhere. I believe a lot of what Dish/Direct and Cable have for on demand are STARZ licensed products. It will be real interesting to see how this all shakes out in the next 6-9 months. One of the reasons for the Netflix price increase was because STARZ was going to charge them more, well, if this deal is indeed DEAD, then Netflix doesn't need to increase their price...........do they :biggrin:

Oh wait............once the price goes up, it never goes down.

Agreed, I see that Starz Play animation at the beginning of a LOT of the movies I stream from Netflix.

Yeah I heard about this too. When Starz' Spartacus: Gods of the Arena was playing, each of the new episodes showed up on Netflix every week, which was a nice touch. Ah well.

Hey, if you're being fair, Netflix has lowered their prices before... just not any time recently

Netflix Stock crashed pretty badly. Taking away Starz streaming is a huge . Price increase , Netflix is starting to look unattractive. I have had them since the beginning but if they keep moving backwards I'm gonna jump ship. I can live without them. I enjoy selecting my movies and purchasing them. It is very convent to lay in bed and surf netflix , find something cool to watch whenever I want.
I guess I'll be looking back into a Sony ES Blu mega changer after all.

The documentaries and TV shows make it more than worthwhile for me still (streaming only), but the 'Starz Play' movies are pretty much the best ones they offer. I'm still fine with it, but disappointed to see Starz go at the same time.

I think I'm heading to vudu. Yea, I got to pay for each movie, but at least it's a recent movie. Rent two online per month and it's a better deal than Netflix streaming.

Netflix has gone way downhill. Just wish there was a decent competitor.

That is the question of the day my friends. Netflix is was a really great service but they are starting to slip instead of getting better they just lost tons of customers. You must think before you act.

Netflix secures deal with Dreamworks : http://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/26/business/media/netflix-secures-streaming-deal-with-dreamworks.html?_r=2&pagewanted=all

The Netflix accord, which analysts estimate is worth $30 million per picture to DreamWorks over an unspecified period of years, is billed by the companies as the first time a major Hollywood supplier has chosen Web streaming over pay television.

Interesting article. Said that the first movie will be released under this deal in 2013. That is a ways off and hardly makes up for the STARS loss.

Awesome. They are going to stream 3 movies I don't want to see 2 years from now.
