Getcha a Stahl solder station..........

edited August 2011 in DIY, Mods & Tweaks
Mine lasted all of 4 months, and in the middle of soldering I am left holding wires!
The solder gun just came apart in my hand, out of no where.
Just broke in half.
NICE!
Now I am left holding the bag on 4 pairs of IC's I have already promised people!
Always have a back up!
Guess that is all you can expect for $12!
Pretty dangerous though had the quick disconnect come loose.
Oh well, Weller or Hakko for me in the future, that is the only good thing about it!
Oh yeah, did I mention the size 12 and the whole "floor" thing?

Best thing that ever happened to my cable building!!!!!!!!!

Weller makes a great soldering station.

Won't stand up to a boot stomping it into the floor though. Pepster time to put on some soothing music and relax a bit.

    I hear ya!
Thing is, as it happened, it was pretty dangerous, and believe me, I have been in the AC business for some time!
Really shocked me (no AC), but I was startled by the whole thing!
One second, soldering, the next second, wires in my hand!
    NOT GOOD MY FRIEND!
I can assure you I have no reason to post this crap other than to warn other folks (I have better things I could be doing, believe me)!
This damn sure is not a game.
It happened and I am sure it could happen with any Name on the gun.
But I have never have it happen with any other brand!
    Freak deal.........could be.
Prolly happen with any brand depending on the circumstances.
    BUT STILL NOT COOL!
Don't give a damn who it is!
Won't happen again with me, with that name on the station!
    Promise!

I am not to sure. I just know a lot of guys on the rc forums say they are nice. No personal experience. It probably uses special tips too.

    Before the size 12!
Pretty nice Cardas Quad solder joint on a pure silver solid core digital cable (earlier today, I had just pm'd this pic to headrott, before the size 12 and floor meet each other:biggrin:).
    Lucky I guess!

    I really like Weller.
I had a 30watt Weller "pen type" iron when I did car installs!
Just that little iron was killer (wish I still had it)!
Thanks Face, it is between the Weller and the Hakko stations!
