No analog audio out? Solution...

Some newer HDTV's don't have analog audio outs, one example, my Panasonic 58" plasma (S2 series). It only has a Toslink out. I have a set of wireless RCA headphones that my Dad, and Bev's Dad use when they visit, because both have severe hearing problems; but I had no headphone output jack, or analog audio out to connect the base station to. Enter this nifty little DAC from Monoprice. $25 bucks, and it works great. It has 1 Toslink, and 1 coax input; and a L/R RCA analog output. It solved my problem:

thats awesome!!
I've needed something as well seeing I don't have any digital inputs on my little integrated amp in the bedroom and my stupid cable box won't output analog if I use HDMI and the TV only has optical.

Couldn't you just use the analog connections on the avr ? Or you talking a tv that doesn't have one nearby ?
Neet little device anyway and if it fits the need, a no brainer at that price.HT SYSTEM-

If the TV doesn't have analog outputs but only a toslink this can be a good way to go.
A lot of the newer TV's don't have analog outputs at all which suck.
I have the VT panny series which doesn't have anything and seeing my cable box doesn't allow analog out put while using HDMI for video I would be forced to use my TV speakers seeing my integrated doesn't have optical in, only analog. I could see this being handy for a PC rig or TV stuff for the price.
I think before the cheapest I found was like 75-80 bucks and thought was over priced for what it was...25 is reasonable. -
Wow, I would have thought the VT series would have analog out. You do have toslink though right?
The DAC is quite small, and very well made. The packaging surprised me too---you'll see what I mean when you get yours.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Source: Rotel CD14MkII CD Player - Speakers: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -

nope no analog outs which is a bummer. I would have thought they would be on there as well.
and sweet. I really am glad to hear it works well. For 25 bucks its hard to go wrong. -
I'm not sure of it's "performance" as I just use it as an interface for the wireless headphones, but it seems to sound just fine through them.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Source: Rotel CD14MkII CD Player - Speakers: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2
