MyeSound doesn't offer 1/4-20 points anymore.

most of these are the very same spikes that Madisound and parts express sell. Most on here do not care for them, although I've had a good experience with them

I've seen that stuff and wondered what it's made of. How toxic do you suppose it is? Wonder if it out gasses toxic stuff?

What would it be used for, some kind of dampening?

I was hoping someone would know what it was also.If it came from an Onkyo speaker mfg facility it must be used somewhere in the process.dampening like you said was my first guess. It may be part of a lacquer mix as well i guess.

I purchased a set of these, which worked very well, and, after I told them that a couple were more scratched up than I expected when they asked for feedback, they send me another pair already brushed up unprompted. Plus they put peppermints in their packages. :) I figured I should rep them up, they seem like good folk.

Just a quick question. Spikes as used for carpet, should they not be Sharp As to penitrate the carpet and pad so they reach the sub floor? I see the " rounded" ones if I'm correct they would be good for wood or tile flooring ( if I understand correctly). Have I got that right? This is to be one of my next little projects. Also courious about length for carpet use, have rta 12's and if placed at the corners of the risers it seems they might be unstable. Has anyone done this and is this a prob? Thanks.

Yes, for carpet use you would want to purchase a pair with sharp points to pierce through to the subflooring; those are intended for hardwood use. I have not seen an RTA-12 in person, but if the riser is hollow like the SDA-2A, then F1nut has in the past recommended gluing wooden blocks into the corners to put the spikes in, which seems like a very sensible suggestion.

Didnt know they might be hollow. Thanks for the insite. Realy liked those " stands " with the points, thou I bet they are expensive. The glued block idea might work ( if placed on the outside of the risers) might help wiith the stability concerns as well.

Polk confirmed the risers on the RTA 12'S ARE INDEED HOLLOW , SO POINTS OR OUTRIGERS WON'T WORK WITHOUT MODIFING ( WITH WOOD BLOCKS) OR REPLACING THE RISERS WITH SOLID WOOD OR MDF.
