BTW, Teddie's book was a decent read... stuck me as self-aggrandising at times, but about half those times I came away thinking, "nope, that was warranted."
Just throwing this out, TR had a varied life, you might be interested in this for a different read on his life:

And (can't believe I put myself thru this) am halfway thru another bad autobio by Kieth Richards, "Life."

Only 175 pages, so it was a quick read. It has nothing to do with sports...unless you consider sex a sport...
Salter was greatly influenced by the likes of Ernest Hemingway, Thomas Wolfe and Henry Miller and his writing style is along the lines of Tennessee Williams. I may pick up some more of his works...although Salter considers "A Sport and a Pastime" to be his best work."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

He sure has a way of wording things for us comman folk doesn't he. I like how he connects Newton, Einstein and others and himself to what we quest for ourselves. We each want to know more about where we are and more...

Aldo Leopold was a turn of the century American forester, ecologist and environmentalist. He was influential in the movement for wilderness conservation and he was a founder of the science of wildlife management.

Just finishing Ken Follett's newest, The Fall of Giants. It's part one of a trilogy involving the political changes around the world. This book deals with WWI, and has a good general overview of the war.Review Site_ (((AudioPursuit)))

I just finished re-reading Studs Lonigan, a great book that my father gave me when I was all of 10 or 11 years old. Every Dad should have his son give this a read. (if he want's him to grow a "pair")

I'm with ya, finished it about a month ago and was quite surprised myself.
I wonder who wrote it ?? -

Great way to start a book"You shouldn't just kill a guy without asking. It's inconsiderate." Tommy was from Indiana, and his mother had raised him to have good manners and to be considerate of other people's feelings.
"You had sex with me while I was unconscious," Jody said.
"That's not the same," Tommy said. "I was just being friendly, like when you put a quarter in someone else's parking meter when they aren't there - you know they appreciate it later, even if they don't thank you personally." -
I am currently reading a book named the monk who sold his ferrari.

Christopher Moore is funny. I have only read A Dirty Job but you have just reminded me to get some more of his stuff. Right now I just finished a reread of The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test. About to start on HST The Proud Highway( the first collection of letters).

A well written book is like well recorded music played on a good system. It appeals to many senses and draws you in. Some authors just have 'it'. Yes his books are all more or less on the same themes, but he has good writing skills.

Damn I read that around '71 in college. Not a lot of authors with Tom Wolfe's range of material.kefranklin wrote: »Right now I just finished a reread of The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test.
Wrapped Morris' Theodore Rex... not as strong as first volume, The Rise of TR, but still a worthwhile read. Two down, one to go, Colonel Roosevelt, but first...
Felt like getting a little poltical so delving into John Dean's Conservatives without Conscience. Interesting read so far...More later,

Actually, the reverse is true. Sorry I wasn't clear but what I meant to say is that I'm actually reading a physical book for once instead of my Kindle or Kindle for iPhone.
