Not sure about the amplifier power. Are we suppose to put in the power for one channel or both?

I can hit 117.1 db with the Klipsch and NAD with 120w for amp power. That's just one channel.

With 240w for amp power (2CH), I get 120.1db:eek: .

Those spl readings are using the RMS amplifier power. CRAP!

    Oh well, I'm only at 113.5. I severely doubt it even gets that loud in a 6000 ft^3

    polks I get 119.3 RMS

    my klipsch I get 132.7 RMS

    same amp a/b switch. Denon POA2400a

    Neve have cranked the klispch to max yet, too loud plus CD skips before you get there.

    Says with the mains, RT5, RTi70 - 2 545, 1 535. One channel, I can hit.......118db

    Says my Dad's can hit 121...

    I've heard them go MUCH louder than that..........................

    Says my entire system can hit up to 130db.....

    Isn't that amp 200wpc ?

    Assuming your Polks are 89 db ?! , you'd have to be 2 feet away to get that SPL.

    ROTFL ... Well the older K-Horns could muster 104 db some how so it's theoretically possible, but can you say industrial deafness ? Besides, louder hardly makes it better ... that's the Bose philosiphy.

    My Dad's Klipsch Chorus are 102db nominal. 120db.....is easy for them things. He only has 270, they can take up to 1000 watts.....

    How can they be 102dB nominal? There is no such measurement. The only nominal measurement is the ohms rating.

    Personally, I consider that chart to be flawed at best.

    Klipschorn are 104dB @ 1watt/1meter
    Lascala are 104dB @ 1watt/1meter

    and they have several that are 103. When you talk about dynamic range Klipsch speakers have polk beat hands down. I sill like my polks better. But when you want to crank it up and listen to rock and roll the KLF-30s are hard to beat. Everything else I like my Polks better. Their great to bring down to the garage when I have a pig roast and crank them up. I dont have any close neighbors, plus I envite them to the pig roast......I am on 4 acres in the semi - country with the suburbs slowly approaching.

    I have no doubt that Kilpsch will play loud, but do you really listen at a distance of 4 feet? That's kinda like wearing headphones.

    The problem I have with that chart is the placement of speakers. Example, I have mine 5.5" from the back wall and 3 feet from the corner. The chart doesn't give you the option of calculating that measurment.

    This is as close as I could get with my set up.
    Speakers: 90dB
    Power: 475 wpc
    Distance: 6 feet
    # of Speakers: 2
    Close to a corner
    Estimate: 120.5dB

    Distance at 4 feet,
    Estimate: 124.1dB

    Using a SPL meter from the 6 foot distance I got to 115dB at only 10:30 on the volume dial. That's barely warmed up for my amp and loud enough to be uncomfortable.

    Hehe.....I don't think the SDA's can do more than 120-125dB, so I think it's safe. The glass does rattle though. :D

    it flexes...

    IF you go outside and watch my window it actually is moving in and out...

    I play it loud, but its mostly M&K. Bass comes in (according to RS meter) at about...5-6db louder than the music. Which I don't believe

    Come on guys. We've all got SPL meters right. Let's crank it and measure - test the calc. My calc says at 75 wpc (Denon 1604) and average 90 dB for 5 speakers - 103 dB. Some day when the family is out, I'll check that!

    Just for S&G, i tried an actual at those sweet spots, and came up with lower readings.
