So what you are saying is if the toast cooks in 3.14 minutes in both toasters the toast will taste the same?
What an opening for some keiko Pi. (keiko Hope prayers are being answered) -
Nothing will protect against a direct lightning hit, nothing. Well, short of unplugging and moving the plug at least a foot away from the outlet. That's what we do in Tornado Alley.
We do? Nobody told me. I just leave it plugged in and thank God for home owner's insurance. -
Ben,
You should really consider putting spikes on your toaster.
I did mine, and found it offered "cleaner" tasting toast.Testing

I'm surprised none of you have mentioned the double blind test with a toaster using a newly invented ACD technology on top. I'm quite sure Mr. Candy has graphs to scientifically and unequivocally prove that toast prepared this way toasts differently.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

falconcry72 wrote: »It's well documented in blind taste tests that 9 out of 10 chefs can't tell the difference between toast made in an easy bake oven and toast made in the ultra expensive novelty toasters.
Yeah, but the one chef who did taste the difference proves that the difference is detectable.
Maybe the other 9 chefs didn't have adequate training or experience in taste testing high performance toast. Maybe the blind test used was of a type that diminished some relevant sensory information.

I'm on the fence where purchasing a high-end toaster is concerned.
I don't think mod'ing my current toaster is a viable solution, given my utter lack of soldering skills.
Purchasing a high-end toaster is probably the direction I will go, but truth be told, I am hesitant and fearful of buyers remorse. How much better can good toast get? What do I have to spend to achieve the nirvana inducing taste of fresh sourdough? Thats why I spend countless hours trolling, lurking, and posting at various culinary arts message boards.

I have to laugh at this thread, because I own the best toaster ever. It's a "Breville" four-slice. It was $200.00 bucks and my wife broke my balls about buying it. It weighs about 15 lbs and is built SOLID. Makes damn fine toast however.

Hi all,
I've been lurking for some time now. I'm looking for a dedicated 2-slice setup that will not break the bank. I found a nice butter knife (plastic) on craigslist, which I will be using until I can upgrade to something better. Until recently, I was content to use my old Sunbeam for pop tarts and the occasional toaster struedel when company was over. Now I'm ready to graduate to whole grains.
I'm not looking for anything to hook my blender to, at least not yet
- so please no Westinghouse trolls. Besides, I once sampled Westinghouse toast at my local appliance store, and I could never re-create that cooking environment in my kitchen. Internet connectivity is not a concern for me at this time.
This will not be used for pot pies, so I can't justify the cost of a toaster oven. I'm hoping you guys can give me some advice as to which brands would give me good heat retention and aroma, but without excessive smokiness on the palate. I should mention that I always serve on Pfaltzgraff Naturewood plates and would like to keep them with the new toaster. Will these work? Any issues with stoneware in general??
And yes, I've looked on Maillard-agon, and the ones on there are way over-priced. Any help would be greatly appreciated! -
Wish I could afford the gear you guys (and gals) have but, due to funds, I'm forced to go with an integrated system: The ToasterOven.
I'd like to go the toaster AND oven route, but I have to make do as I can't afford both.
Any recommendations for a ToasterOven ? Ultimate Electronics is going out of business, any word on any ToasterOvens there ?Sal Palooza -

That certainly looks like a perfect piece of.... toast...I'd say you did good. -
This is my hot rod, I may change out the power cord to see if I can decrease toasting time. Again, best toaster ever, and I don't use the term lightly. It is digital, however, but I may convert it to analog tube for a slightly "warmer" tasting slice. Two Channel-SDA SRS 1.2tl's,modded, Cambridge Audio 851w amps(2),Cambridge 851e pre, VPI Scout 1.1 tt, Moon audio phono pre, oppo bd105.

Man those are some sweet setups!
Have you ever witnessed this one?
I once saw this at a trade show in Milan, and it took me about 2 hours in line just to get up close to it. Everyone who samples it agrees there is no better- I'm thinking of selling my car for the downpayment. This thing is so powerful that you'll be covered in crumbs! -

gotta protect my toaster now....
Per my OP, the incident happened @ work in the lab when our electrical crew were in the process of installing GFCIs to comply with the code. The electrician disconnected the neutral which cause misbalance of load to the adjacent circuit thus damaging several laboratory instruments. The contractor assumed that all dedicated circuit has their own isolated neutral but the initial wiring were installed/ wired incorrectly (The neutral wire was shared in series to 3 circuits which is incompliance to the code). An electrical surge overrode several of the surge protectors (most were nonbranded and my personal picked APC).Godspeed,

Sounds like the electrician was working with 3 phase and hooked up the 208 to a 120 circuit. There are two types of 3 phase usually in service. One is 120-120-120 and the other is 208-120-120.Please. You people are insane. Show me one scientific test that proves taste and aroma can be enhanced using these new toaster mods. You can't because they don't exist. Period. And don't tell me "it's the source," because in a double blind test that was performed at MIT the subjects weren't able to tell the difference between cheap Wonder bread and high-end Pepperidge Farms Split-Top loaf.TV: 65" Samsung QLED 4K
