Anyone have 1st hand experience with any of the numerous mod companies out there? If so what feedback can you give. They seem to be all over the place on what they do along with pricing.

What are you looking to have modded? Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

I wouldn't use anyone who doesn't tell you exactly what they're changing."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

Possibly my Music Hall DAC. I'm having fun so far with the little I've done to date...replaced the stock op-amps w/ Bursons & swapped out different tubes. Just these two mods have produced fantastic results. I'd like to tackle some other mods myself but I have zero knowledge of electronics. I would probably butcher the damn thing!I wouldn't use anyone who doesn't tell you exactly what they're changing.
I hear you, from reading up on some of the mod companies that seems to be a sticky point. Some are straight forward with what they do & pricing. Others act like it's a military secret as to what they do. -
musical design/musical concepts has a great reputation.John will tell you what mods he will perform and even give you an estimated cost.(Its not cheap but its worth it IMO)

My tuner was modded by Joseph Chow at Audio Horizons. He did a fantastic job. It still boggles my mind the quality of sound I get out of it.SystemLuxman L-590AXII Integrated Amplifier|KEF Reference 1 Loudspeakers|PS Audio Directream Jr|Sansui TU-9900 Tuner|TEAC A-6100 RtR|REL T/9X SE Sub

The only one I have used is Matt Anker at sacdmods.com. A quick search indicates his site is no longer active. That's too bad! The guy did awesome work and turned average to good CDPs in excellent CDPs."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

Matt did his work in his off time while in college if I'm not mistaken. He was seasonal at best but did very good work.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -

His site used to be very comprehensive with a list of machines he could mod, and the level of mods he would do with specific prices. I don't remember there being "off" times but it has been a year or two since I visited his site, so I could be wrong. Too bad. I have a Sony DVD/SACD player I always intended to send to him to upgrade...but never got around to it. Too late now I guess."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

Matt is an engineer at Cessna Aircraft Co. in Wichita, Kansas. I might reach out to him to see if he still dabbles in mods.

Do it yourself, or have a fellow Polkie help you for cash or beer. I've done my own mods, had help, and helped other Polkies, and had fun with a sense of accomplishment the entire time.

I actually thought about that. Maybe I'll give give a shout out to see if anyone is interested. It would be especially nice if I could find anyone in my area (South Jersey, Philly). I would like to learn more about the innards of audio gear. -
I'm sure someone can help out locally, but you can always email me with questions and I'll try to help as well.
