Can I use an AVR as an amp?

Just wondering if I could use an AVR I have laying around as an amplifier? I would use it to power second fronts on my Sunfire until I can save for an appropriate amp.
Could I run the l/r from the Sunfire side axis speakers to the aux in on my Denon and then set the Denon as stereo / no sub?
Thanks.

I guess you could if you really wanted to. You might have to hold two remotes to keep the speakers in sync for volume with the ones powered by the TGR.Sunfire TGP, Sunfire Cinema Grand, Sunfire 300~2 (2), Sunfire True Sub (2),Carver ALS Platinum, Carver AL III, TFM-55, C-19, C-9, TX-8, SDA-490t, SDA-390t

not really recommended
best to sell the AVR
and upgrade -
Why do you want two sets of front speakers? I wouldn't do that with a receiver or an amp.

Yea - I have the AVR up for sale and will use funds to buy amp. I thought I could try the AVR to see if I liked the sound or thought it was worth getting. Why do you want two sets of front speakers? I wouldn't do that with a receiver or an amp.
The Sunfire has the capability to have side axis speakers (powered by a separate amp) to have a 9.1 (actually up to 9.3) HT. I have an extra set of matching speakers laying around and thought I would see if it made any difference in sound. Sunfire states it is to help fill in the gaps between the fronts and surrounds.
Obviously, I do not want to hurt any equipment in my experiment.7.3 HT: Sunfire TGR-3, Sunfire Series II, Mirage OMD-28, OMD-5 (x4), REL T1 (2), T2, Oppo 103D, Optoma HD8200PRO, 106" screen, SB Touch

Is that similar to the Audyssey fronts and front wides? -
Not sure if it is like Odyssey or not. I would imagine it is similar though.7.3 HT: Sunfire TGR-3, Sunfire Series II, Mirage OMD-28, OMD-5 (x4), REL T1 (2), T2, Oppo 103D, Optoma HD8200PRO, 106" screen, SB Touch

Wow - 9.1. Thats (counting my fingers) NINE speakers. Impressive. I don't have room in my loft for the five I have set up.Do you hear that buzzing noise?
