Anyone here run or install control 4 or URCs new stuff? I'm not sure URCs total control equipment is out just yet.

I'm considering building a house this coming year and would like a not too expensive home automation system. I have an MX800 from URC and love it. But I also have iPhone and iPad and would like them to be integrated.

I have been Installing Control 4 since 2006. They are a fantastic company and you can use your Ipad and Iphone to control your entire house.

You can go as mild or wild as you want like HVAC , Security and Lighting. Pool control , IP cameras , you name it if it can be controlled Control 4 can do it.

There Interface has been updated and is pretty nice. I plan on using a full Control 4 system in my house and update all my URC control I have. I use my Iphone to control my Itunes and use it all over my house . It's nice to lay in bed and change the music including volume.

URC's new stuff isn't out yet. I have used the MX6000 and don't like it. They make solid products but don't fall in the same line as C4.

Go C4 , find a good dealer and have them go over the entire system with you , What state are you in? We are in Pa.

    Thanks Mantis.

I have a authorized dealer in west Michigan that I like. They have been selling control 4 since they came out I think or close to it.

One of the things I like about control 4 is I can write my own apps it appears and even sell them If I think they are worth putting up. If I could write my own iPad app too that would be really sweet but I'm not sure if they have anything to support 3rd party developers for iOS devices.

I'm curious to see the new URC remotes too. My MX-800 still works well but I no longer have Windows to use the editor software. That is why I was looking into their new stuff. I really love my URC remote too. Touch screens don't excite me for normal controls, as you have to take the time to look at them instead of just push a button.

I would consider Lutron also. I have it installed in HT and it works great. For complete automation I would definitely recommend them.

If you can find used Crestron or AMX it is worth a look. Also check out Extron.
I installed Crestron/AMX back in the day (think early to mid 90's). Still remember the classes at the AMX campus near Dallas/Ft Worth.
