i have read good reviews for bgm in general, underrated is the word that keeps coming up. he has this on cl for 100 bucks. it will be quite a drive , thats the only thing. i could have him ship. which leaves me wondering how the money swap would be handled with no guarantees of merch, any advice would be greatly appreciated. either comments on bgm quality or dealing with prepaying. thanks

Never heard of BGM, is it a commercial amp? I wouldn't prepay on CL, unless you know the person. You have no recourse other than to drive to his house and confront. If it's too far a drive to make the exchange, move onto something else.

its a bgw, the phone no. always just has a message and to be honest, the person does not sound like someone i would want to drive halfway across the state to meet. you know, just a feeling. but thanks for respondinghumpty dumpty was pushed

Still have no idea what a BGW is, never heard of it, probably not worth the effort even if the guys sounded legit.

P.s. Google comes back as Pro gear...........I'd stay away from Pro gear for home audio use. It tends to lack the finesse of good or even mediocre home audio gear."Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. I wouldn't generalize about pro gear. There are pro amps that sound good - the Crown amps used in recording studios come to mind. The pro amp I use for DJ/parties sounds warmer than a hifi amp, but it's easy to listen to. There are pros and cons, and good and bad pro gear, IMO.polkaudio RT35 Bookshelves

I help a sound man swap in a bunch of BGW & Meyers sound, new for old, in the club's house-sound system.
He let me play around with a couple of BGW-750's. Rugged fan cooled pro amplifier, unfortunately with only XLR or 1/4" phonojack inputs I could not get enough gain from my non XLR preamp to get a full sound.
At the club they killed all night long, loud fans though.
