I guess not many people looking for this type of TV's, but it does have very good picture quality and you can hook an antenna and you'll get all the HD local channels. It's a 720P. Great condition, just one scratch in the screen that I really never notice. The weird reflection in the screen is just that, a reflection.

Local pick up only (45040). $200 and you'll take the TV and the rack.

Another picture with an image. The lines at the bottom are reflections from the flash. The image looks perfect.

    Model is 57F710A.

The rack is also in good condition, it does have some marks in the top. 5 shelves, glass door.

    Ricardo,
That looks like an old CRT based set. Am I right? I remember looking at that model around the time when I got my old Toshiba CRT set. If so, I'm not sure why you think its a 720p set. AFAIK, all those CRT sets were native 1080i projection.

Not saying that's a bad thing. There are many who still prefer the natural film like look of the CRT rear projectors. They tend to have great blacks and natural colors, but they do give up a bit of resolution. Hitachi made some of the best as well.

I think you'd have a quick sale if you put it on Craigslist. At $200, its a steal for anyone who has the space, especially with the rack included.

I think you both may be right...there is no contradiction there. Those sets and my Toshiba, as well, are a native 1080i. Hitachi used to be one of the top CRT RPTVs. At one point Hitachi made the majority of RBG tubes used in rear projection sets. I know my Toshiba has Hitachi tubes in it.

At 1080i that set rivals most of what's out there today. Very beautiful color and good sharp focus. Also, outside of convergence board problems (not that common with Hitachis) these sets last pretty much as long as a good CRT set. They run for years and years. My Toshiba is over 5-6 years old and looks as good as it did on day one.

    Sure they're bulky...but for 200 dollars--if you're local and have a pickup..this is a wonderful set!

    Good luck with the sale.

A good lens cleaning and ISF calibration from the right person will make this TV look better than most out there today.

I honestly don't know if it's 720p or 1080i. All i know is that the picture is awesome and the only reason I need it out of here is I'm getting a projector.

I know it will be a tough sale. If there's no interest I will look for someone locally that needs a good TV.

I have a 57" Hitachi that looks just like that. It runs all the different rates upto 1080i. I prefer that over 720p, but it displays it if that is your preference.

I had mine ISF calibrated, and both regular DVDs and BR look GREAT. I bought it new in 2005 for $1700 and I suspect it is equal to or better than any current $1700 sets.

Clean the dust off the projector lenses once a year and you are good to go.

^ Yep! I have the same TV. Got mine in 2006, great TV.

Think I need to get in there and clean the lenses though, since I have never done that.

A mechanical setup (lens toe in/convergence/optical focus) and some decent tweaking in the service menu will make this set KILL most flat panel sets in terms of PQ.

Serendipity PM'd me saying he will measure. His PM was at 9:46 PM so he's a few minutes ahead of Jeff.

For those interested, the rack is not a choice. You will take it or the TV stays :)

that's what i'm talking about! i did the same and replaced my hitachi 65" rptv, but instead of selling, i placed it in the living room while the projector resides in the family room.

great tv's, but admittedly, mine is finally having a hard time holding convergence. not that yours is or isn't. all i know is mine has been running HARD for over 6 years with nary a problem.

I forgot to ask. Does the TV have an HDTV tuner, or is it just a digital monitor. When I bought mine I purchased the digital monitor version since I watch little TV, and am not interersted in paying extra for HD channels.

This has the tuner. I have a cheap antenna and the quality of the HD I get is better than cable or satellite.

Thanks Ricardo! Believe it or not that Heavy TV and Rack survived the bumps back in the trailer without a scratch and works perfectly:) My Dad(Rick) and I enjoyed meeting up, and hopefully we'll cross paths again. Loved the new Projector and freindly fuzzy pooch greeting us at every corner. Keep me in mind for any other items you may want to sell down the road, you sure keep your equipment in TOP NOTCH shape.

    Thanks Again!
