Why are the polk lsi speakers so power hungry and what do you feel is the minimum requirement for an amp to power these speakers? At what level of amplification do they sound best?

Theres alot ot be said with your question.

    I will be short.

The LSI series is a higher end type speaker. They require a higher end type of amp to drive them correctly.Without going tech on yeah....They are a 4 ohm load speaker with a low 88db rating. They take a bit of power to drive them.100-200 watts of high current power will fill most rooms well.

Rotel,B&K make wonderful perfect matching amps.
