New equipment, new NAD user, more questions...

Hi!

So finally I pulled the trigger and bought a new NAD T747 receiver and a NAD CD player, to replace my Denon AVR790. I´m about to hook everything up.

My first question is about equipment stacking. I´m a bit limited about space now, until I save more money for a decent rack. Is it ok to stack the CD player on top of the AVR, or will it cause to much heat? I´m not sure how hot does the NAD runs. I´m asking this because I´ve seen many pictures of components stacked, but not sure if is fine or not..

Thanks in advance!

It's a better idea to stack the AVR on the CDP if its not going to crush it? Because heat can cause problems for the CDP, and the weight from the AVR helps to dampen vibrations from the CDP which is a Perq! I am not familiar with the build quality of that NAD CDP..but I would assume that you should be able to stack the AVR on it?

    Anyone else know for sure??

And congrats...that system should sound pretty good!

    Thanks a lot.

I don´t think the CDP is robust enough to be below the T747...anyway, I´ll leave the cdp besides the TV table for the moment.

I connected everything, and although I haven´t played too much with the system, all I can say is that I´m amazed!!! Sounds much more better than the Denon.

Next step will be getting some LSi for the front stage!!!...running TSi300-100 now

The CDP will not be large enough to hold the AVR (probably too short from front to back, by several inches).

The 747 is not as heavy as some other NAD units, but it still weighs 30lbs. My NAD does not get hot, but it uses four fans hidden on the underside for cooling. I don't think the 747 has these, since I don't see any exhaust vents on the rear panel illustration from the data sheet. In any case, I would not really recommend stacking. There may be some mention of this in the manual of either unit involved. Here is an extract from "Choosing a Location" section in my manual:

+1 I wouldn't recommend the stacking as well due to the weight of the AVR on top of the CD or stacking the CDP on top of the AVR due to the heat ect. See if there is any way to move some stuff around to set it on top of something else. You could always set the CDP on top of a VCR player or something like that for now.

    Thanks!!

I´have a minor issue. I´m using a PS3 with the receiver. When I turn on the PS3 everything is fine, I mean, image and audio. I can play music, use the menus, etc. However when I put a disc, either a game or a movie, the first 30 seconds or so when the disc is playing, the screen blinks a bit. It stops after a brief period of time and then is perfect. yesterday I watched a bluray and was fine during all the movie but the very beginning.

By the way, I used to listen to music in pure direct using the Denon, but I haven´t found a similar setting in the NAD, only stereo. Is there any pure listening mode?
