Chuckles,

That was real dumb of me to just offer the player. The "package" would be..............

CD-3400
Heavy Duty "Virtual Mode" power supply (purchased separately back then)
Audio Alchemy DDEv1.0 DAC
Audioquest digital cable to go between the CD-3400 and the DAC

$175 shipped

Of course, you can buy only the CD-3400 if you like, but I never used it as a stand alone. I always used it with the other pieces. Audio Alchemy comes with PS-1 (Power Station 1) power supply).

    Max,

That stuff is MINE until it arrives at your location and you sign for it. I insure stuff heavily. If it becomes lost or damaged during shipping, I send you an immediate refund, and fighting with UPS is MY problem. If you have been dealing with people that DON'T provide that kind of assurance, it's not my fault. It's the ONLY way to do business.

    George,
I do business the same way. I've noticed lately that when I ship something with insurance it arrives to the buyer on time and in tact. When I don't buy the insurance it gets lost, takes forever or is damaged. I think they have a special grab bin for the uninsured stuff. Of course that is with USPS, not UPS. That's all I was saying. Please don't make me sign for it, I'm never home when they deliver. If that is an issue I can send you my work address to ship it to.

I can't wait to get it. A dream come true! I was reading a little more about it yesterday. It will be interesting to see if my opinion of it matches the Stereophile crowd.

    Thanks again,
    Chuck

    Max,

I have personally TOUCHED the Holy Grail in addition to giving it an audition! I can promise you that you will be very impressed and pleased. I am supremely jealous and I had no idea George was getting rid of it otherwise, you might not be having it mailed to you! ;)

As far as the quality and review goes, I find it so humerous that so many "audiophiles" and "experts" are so willing to over-look equipment because of it's brand name or it's age. There is plenty of impressive equipment out there hiding and waiting for those who are truely open-minded about it to just come along snap it up!

I wouldn't be embarrased by too much of the older Radio Shack stuff. Newer stuff is sketchy at best but older Optimus and Realistic equipment can be alot more than what you bargained for in the sound and quality departments! Hell, look at the Optimus speakers with the Linaeum (sp?) ribbon tweeters (I believe George has a set of those in the stash too). They won rave reviews for imaging and depth of sound and they actually got a few awards. A pair cost you about 200 bucks too. I don't think that even the tower units broke 800 a pair. That's cheap for an award winning speaker!

Anyway, I don't think you have any reason to worry or be skeptical. If it can do such a wonderful job making George's Amazings play so well then I don't think you'll have any problems with it at all.

You're just jealous 'cause the voices don't talk to you!

No worries here. I would have bought one new when they were on the shelves but by the time I read about it they were no longer being sold. I mentioned this to George over 4 years ago and he remembered! I've looked on ebay every now and then and have never seen one for sale. I've already cleared a place for it and started picking out demo songs. Looks like Christmas is coming a little early this year!!!

If you want these by Christmas you best get off your butt and tell me where to ship this stuff. "Don't make me sign for it." Indeed.

How about "Don't break my chops!"

I could've had this stuff shipped ALREADY if you had thought about that. You would've been listening to it THIS WEEKEND, but that ain't gonna happen now. It's going to get shipped UPS ground. They stay in business BY MAKING PEOPLE SIGN FOR STUFF!!!!!

    SEND ME AN ADDRESS!

I got your shipping address at work, and will try to get it out tomorrow so you have it for the weekend. No promises, cause I have to do my annual fitness exam for the military tomorrow (running, push-ups, sit-ups) after normal duty hours. If they let me smoke while I'm running and stuff it'll be a piece of cake. If they don't and all I'm getting is normal oxygen, I might have a heart attack.

If you think my memory is good over THIS stuff, you should see how long I remember **** that pisses me off.
