Those aren't unopened. There is a clear tape level under that yellow tape that isn't something Polk has ever sealed a box with that I've seen before.
Typo perhaps?comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -

They are very much in fact unopened. I had the same question too when I bought it from Circuit City. I bought 2 pairs and both had the same tape. The sales guy told me that they put that tape on the box to let the warehouse person know that there is actually 2 speakers in there (since CC sells them per piece... but you have to buy them in pairs  ). He said that there were some cases that people paid for just 1 speaker and got away hauling one box with 2 speakers in it.
I have visually inspected them once I got home and they really are unopened.
In fact, I am so sure that if the person who wins them ever see a hint of an open box, or the speakers as being used, or signs of them taken out of the box, I am willing to refund the money. I will have to trust the buyer as being honest as much as the buyer trusted me for winning my auction.
Neways, thanks for voicing out your concern tho

Would you sell those RTi38s to me?? LMK thanks
-
Wow. That's a good profit potential considering you can go to CC right now and buy them Open Box for $49.99 all around Houston. Maybe I should just pick up all I can find and eBay them!

At $49.99 a pair, that would be a deal of a lifetime. I'd go get em. You can turn around and sell em on ebay at $150 at least. Unfortunately, I bought mine brand new and in the box. It was on sale but not even as low as $49.99 each. I'll take my licks and hopefully, my losses are not going to be that bad.Originally posted by Stroonzo

BS on the $50 bucks - these ridiculous prices come up on this forum way to much. Hey get me a pair - I send ya $100 ASAP.
Guess what - won't happen. I go to CC and they are more like $300. Sorry!!!!!!!!! May happen but deal of a lifetime - Oh ya and rti150's go for $99 each - give me a break!!!!!!!!! -
If I could get them for $100 each I would be happy, I am only using these for my 2 rear not surround bur rear so paying more than $200 is to much for what i need them for, I just want them because they match the timber of my RTi70s. and there is not a CC that has these in stock in my area, they have open box ones but I want new. If I have to I guess I could go with the RTi28s they do have these, are the 38s alot better?? or will I notice little difference if I am using them for rears??
-
Here's what I would recommend you to do. If you place a bid my item and as soon as it gets to $200, I would end the auction and sell them to you (you get an option to sell the item to the highest bidder when you end the auction earlier) or if it doesn't get up to 200, then you saved a few bucks more and you get the speakers just the same. Another thing we get out of it is a positive feedback that we can leave each other. How does that sound to you?
Let me know.
Thanks,

I, as a member of the Polk forum, personally dont appreciate the use of the flea market as a Ebay buffer or bidding tool. You either post it here as a simple link or offer it up to the forum as a grab....this is unfair to both the unknown Ebay bidder AND the forum interest.
Perhaps I am the only one, but it strikes me as wrong. Am I crazy here?
I probably wouldn't be so concerned if you hadn't just pawned all your warez within the last month between here and Ebay.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
-- After giving it much thought, I realized that what dorokusai said is right. I apologize. Sometimes I am just slow. DarrenS, I would like to retract what I said. At first I thought there was nothing wrong with it but after considering all the factors, there will be a slight possibility (If the last bidder bid over $200) of you buffering the price of the Item. If you would be willing to trust me, I would sell you the gear for $240 shipped and I will pull the ad from ebay.
The reason why I suggested that idea was to protect me and DarrenS. At least everything is legal. But as said earlier, a bad idea. -
I paid $61 each about 2 months ago in western PA. Bought 2 pairs and gave a pair to my parents for their HT set-up. That is the lowest I've seen. Actually, went to the store about 4 weeks ago and the still had some (how many I don't know) but I have no idea if the are still there.Receiver = Denon AVR-3803

I agree. I just feel If your going to offer the item in the flea market to other members than you should be able to sell it to other members & at a set price! I wont list an item on another site & use the flea market to advertise it, Shoot Ill list it here than if I cant sell it Ill list it on another site. Id like to give fellow Club Polk members the first crack at purchasing my equipment thats for sale. Kinda sucks seeing a item I have interst in posted & going to the post to find its an advertisement for a auction on another site. When the seller posts his/her own ad in the flea market promoting his or her auction on another site & cant sell the item directly to another member should be wrong. Look here there are members who want to buy the speakers but are told to put a bid on the table. Gee if you cant or wont sell it directly for a set price dont list it! Im sorry if Im the only one who feels that way but thats just my oppion! -
Just to respond to this, I always come across threads here of people advertising ebay links, what is wrong with that? I agree that what I proposed earlier is a bad idea and that there is a loop hole that might make it appear like buffering the bids, for that I already apologized and retracted my suggestion. The only reason I suggested that was to protect myself as much as I want to protect the buyer too. I am new here and the only credibility that I got is on eBay. That is why I use eBay to advertise my item. At least, that will give the would-be buyer the warm and fuzzy feeling.
Honestly, If I posted something here selling my gear to the fellow members, with my measly 25 posts, do you think I will attract anyone other than the usual skeptics and nay sayers?
Also, if you really like the item, what is wrong with clicking the mouse one more time to find out the real deal? Heck, it won't even close your PolkAudioForum window, it will conveniently open another and if for some reason, you really don't like the idea of linking to another site, then just go read another thread... not really so much as a cause for another wrinkle on your forehead.
Life is good, you are privillaged enough to listen to your awesome polk audio home theater system... no worries.
It is a good thing to look-out for the good of others (Polkies and otherwise), but it is another thing, and definitely not a good thing, to start flaming people, specially a fellow Polkie
. But then again, I am the Polkie here and you are a Polkster...

Kibro - I know that you are trying to just do your thing, thats fine. You are among the zero few that has stood up and said that perhaps, the thread was misleading. Just know that this forum is for deals, and it isnt always a winning deal for the seller.
The theory in this forum, is that we help each other. I have been MORE than helped in alot of transactions, and I look forward to the time when I can give back to the crew. I try to really help when I can.
The low post number is not so much a negative, but when a new member beelines to the flea market...its normally a no-go at this station.
Dude, I am just a Polk forum user, like you. I dont dictate shite, but I take this forum seriously. Ok now my $.02. IMHO there is nothing wrong with posting a link to a good deal on ebay. I think he was right in trying to show his ebay credibility to help us here feel more comfortable.
Was anyone really flamed badly here, no. Just some advise floating around. I am happy for the way you all responded back and forth, some valid points given in both directions all done while not getting out of hand.

Just my 2 cents,
When first joining this forum and lurking for awhile I too have some trouble selling stuff in the flea market, but as time went by and the TRUST!! level started to rise everything here became alot easier. Just a suggestion I think the key to selling anything here is a reasonable price and PICTURES!!. Giving a fellow polkster a link to any other site is cool but if your going to sell it here then it should stay here for a few days then you should be able to post it anywhere else you please. Everyone I have dealt with here has been awesome. I just completed a deal with someone and it went flawless. I have really not made alot of money here but I have not had one bad experience like I have had on e-bay.
CRj;) -
I would rather not see the e-bay posts in the flea market. I realize that a few do post these to make members aware of possible deals and I did so once myself. But after thinking about it I feel the Flea Market is for deals to people who are members.
I have bought some great equipment off of the Flea Market from the older members and have been oh so pleased with it.

Your post was 100% correct!!! You hit the nail on the head!!Other members post LINKS to items they have found that other members may be interested in!!! They dont advertise thier auctions on other sites in the flea market! You use the Flea market to advertise items for sale on another site. If you going to post it for sale than you should beable to sell it at a set price to other members! I sell products on other sites, audio gon, video gon etc. You never see me post a for sale ad in the flea market directing others to go to another site to bid. Thats just worng. If your going to offer somthing for sale to fellow members than you should beable to sell it at a set price. I looked at your for sale posts & everytime I opened up your post it directs me to e bay to go & bid. Gee if I wanted to bid on a item I wouldnt be looking here! I would be searching e bay! Sorry this the way I feel! Looks like other feel the same way too! You need to remember this site is where members help members, I have had lots of great advice & assistance from other members & I can give back whenever possible! -
I picked up the RTI28s from CC last set they had brandnew, . I am a long time member of Anandtech and they absolute forbid posting ebay links they ban you for doing that in there forsale forums.

Go to hell. Call me out like I am a liar. I bought four Rti38s in Black at CC in College Station, TX that were all open box @ $50 EACH. I have no reason to lie on here. I also found the same prices on the Rti38, open box at CC in The Woodlands, TX; North Houston @ Willowbrook, North Houston @ Greenspoint, and South Houston @ Clear Lake. Feel free to call anyone of those stores and ask if they have any left. If I were at home I would scan my damn receipt for you. I wouldn't send you **** for $100 and try to help you out. I know it sounds too good to be true, but that is why I bought four as fast as I could. Also you can check the polk forum out at hometheaterspot.com. OK guys, lets chill. You probably did get them for $50 each. We all know how inconsistant CC is with their pricing. I don't think Scott was calling you a liar. I checked the CC's near me and nobody had any deals like that. You got VERY lucky. Those deals are few and far between. People find it hard to believe what I paid for my LS50's in '96. Good Guys had them NIB, buy 1 for $249, get the 2nd for 1 penny. Pretty good for speaks that listed for like $400 ea. Just sit back, enjoy, and figure out how to spend the $$ you saved. It's all good

Priceless....
Makes me wanna do this ===>:D

Happy Thanksgiving y'all...

Stroonzo,
Your first post comes off as kinda smart-assed and not helpful to the seller, your second post comes off even worse. If you really wanted to be helpful (mostly to the other folks in Texas) you could have posted in a different thread the details of the deal. It's great that you got such a good deal and instead of saying you wouldn't send Scott a pair for a $50.00 profit, help the bro out. That's what we're all about here.
This is just a personal observation, but I've noticed that thin skinned folks don't last long around here. Have a nice Thanksgiving.

F1Nut,
You got it all wrong. My first post was a realization to myself of how lucky I was, not as anything else. And secondly, maybe you need to go back and read the rude comment that was made about my find. It was about, oh let's see, three or four sentences, without me going ack to review it. So don't tell me how to react or chill out. I took high offense to someone telling me I am BS. Frankly I don't think you would be too inclined to help anyone out who just told you that you were BS. So don't preach to me that I should be here to help someone like that out. Jesus, go back and read how sh!tty that post was that said I was BS.Onkyo TX-SR501

Perhaps you missed my point. It wasn't the right place to post your comments. Kibro is trying to sell some speakers and by your saying that you got some at a very low price isn't helping him at all.
Scott expressed his skepticism (perhaps he could have done so in a better way) at the price you quoted and I can't say I blame him, it does seem ridiculously low.
Regardless, I've been told I'm full of it from time to time and I'm sure this isn't the first time you've been told that too. Does it really matter, is it that important? Will life as we know it, cease to exist? Have we become such a touchy/feely society that we can't rise above the trivial and lose the attitude???Political Correctness'.........defined
