Up for grabs is a mid to late 70's silver faced Kenwood KA-3500 intregrated amp it boasts an awesome 40 wpc
but sounds like much more. It does need a deoxiting due to left right channels volume going up and down in and out and the usual scratchiness involved but otherwise works well. This is a very cute little amp

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all

If the Dawg gets the other one, I would be interested in this. Shipping to 80863?

It will be roughly $50.00 shipping via USPS priority mail it seems that they have changed there pricing and forumla to calculate packages to where it has increased by at least 50% in the last month or two. It doesnt seem to matter if I ship it in a box 16 X 8X 12 or if I ship it in a box 24 X 12 X 20 it is still $50.00If the Dawg gets the other one, I would be interested in this. Shipping to 80863?

Price reduced to $40.00 + shipping and it looks like shipping to most locations via USPS parcel post will be in the $25.00 range or $50.00 via priority mail 4-7days versus aprrox 3 weeks parcel post.

I'm interested. Do you know if I could hook up an ipod doc to it?"Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then." Bob Seger

as long as it has a line-level stereo output, you could!
For 65 smackers shipped, it's a very nice amp... -

Sorry, but don't know what a "line-level stereo output" is. My current (crumby) ipod doc just has two ic connecters. Do I need more?
If this works, count me in."Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then." Bob Seger -
Just put it there and you are good to go."Don't forget to change your politician. They are like diapers they need to be changed regularly, and for the same reason."

Yup you can use either the aux or tuner inputs on the amp from your dock, as long as your dock sends out a 2 volt or so output it should be plenty enough signal to drive the amp. If in doubt check the manufacturers specs for the output of your dock but most are capable of this or more. As mentioned though this amp needs the pots cleaned badly.Just put it there and you are good to go.

I had a friend who ran a slightly more powerful version of this amp....about the same age...cosmetically this looks like a twin. His was, I believe 60 or 65 watts per channel and it drove giant EPI floorstanders to thunderous volumes and they were a 4 ohm load!
As SNOW says, don't let the 40 watts deceive you this guy can put out some sound. And as I remember it, it also sounded very clean and musical with those speakers...
For 50 dollars....it is most definitely worth it!
Good luck with the sale...I listened to 100s of hours of vinyl on that set up in the late 70s-80s.
If I were in the U.S. I'd consider it myself, out of nostalgia!

Thanks for the help. My brother had this amp in the 70's - in fact still has it - & we rocked to it, so I'm very interested. Snow, forgive my ignorance, but you mention that the "pots" need cleaning badly. What are "pots?""Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then." Bob Seger

I am getting Snow's other integrated he had in the FM, but I almost fell for this one and that sexy silver face."Don't forget to change your politician. They are like diapers they need to be changed regularly, and for the same reason."

"Pots" = potentiometers, aka variable resistors for volume, balance controls.
I had a sexy Kenwood integrated in the same line - with softly glowing yellow analog power meters...a tank of an int amp - I should never have sold it.
Someone who is willing to do a bit of cleaning on this should snap it up!

Pots are adjustable controls on the inside of the amp the volume has one as does the balance left and right control here is a pic of what one looks like and here is a link to how to clean these pots with deoxit and fader lube.BottomFeeder wrote: »Thanks for the help. Gosh, thanks for nursing me on this guys. I'm going to read the article and will then make my decision. I know, shouldn't be a big decision, but I just gotta know if I'm the guy to clean this little fella up. Got the time but....
Truly, thanks again. You guys are great."Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then." Bob Seger -
Meh, my apologies, Snow, but I'm gonna pass. I'm a "plug & play" kinda lazy guy. I'd like the Kenwood, but knowing me, it'd sit around for a long while before I ever got around to cleaning it.
Thanks - truly - for your help in making a qualified decision. It's a great amp, so good luck with the great priced sale."Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then." Bob Seger -
Hate to bump an old thread, but I am curious SNOW as to your thoughts on this amp and if its still available....."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." My thoughts are it is a great amp for the money and very reliable, Kenwood made some very nice pieces during this time period along with Trio.EndersShadow wrote: »Hate to bump an old thread, but I am curious SNOW as to your thoughts on this amp and if its still available.....
Sorry it is no longer available, I loaned this to a friend 6 months or so ago and haven't seen him or the amp since
