Surround Sound - (7.1) RTi A3 vs (5.1) RTi A5 + A3
Quick question for anyone passing by this thread, what would be better?
A 7.1 Surround sound setup using 6 RTi A3's
OR
A 5.1 Surround sound using 2 RTi A5's(front) and 2 A3's(rear)
Receiver is a Onkyo TX-NR807 and a MicroPRO 2000 Sub.
And which center channel would go good with a setup like that?
-Thanks, Quad
P.S. Music is more important to me than movies(if that helps).

Crap, the store is selling out of the A5's, only 2 left!
I'm going to bite the bullet and buy them, still open to suggestions tho.
Edit: Now that I purchased mine, most of NewEgg.com's selection of polk gear is on sale. Free Shipping too.
RTi A5's - $299 (SOLD OUT, I got the last 2!)
RTi A3 (Pair) - $299
CSi A6 - $299
DSW microPRO 2000 - $479 -
I have the same setup and really enjoy it. I was going to recommend the A5's over 6 A3's too. Normally 7.1 is only good if you have the room for it. You will be happy with the setup you have.Front - RTiA5's
Rear - RTiA3's
Center - CSiA4
Sub - PSW110 -

Where do you see the price A5 is 299 each I am seeing 449 each? But I am sure if you have the room for it (2) A5 is always better then (4) A3. -
it's better to consider FXi for the side surround in a 7.1, depending on ur positioning they might be even better as a rear surround than RTI A3.

I could always expand and move the A3's to surround and put 2 FXi's on the rear.Where do you see the price A5 is 299 each I am seeing 449 each? But I am sure if you have the room for it (2) A5 is always better then (4) A3.
Everything Polk was on sale last night, its a shame it didn't last. RTi A9's were $599 ($250) off.
If only my receiver could have powered those. I would have bought them in a heartbeat.
See, they were on sale. I knew I wasn't insane.

nice lucky you ^_^
Cheers, -
Nice snag, and I agree with the room size being the biggest factor in speaker selection. A well placed 5.1 will outperform a cramped up 7.1 anyday.
