Questions about RTi8

Hello,
I am thinking about buying a pair of RTi8's to update my home theater system front speakers on the eBay store. I have a powered sub.
I was wondering will a Onkyo receiver TX-Sr307 with only 65W per channel be able to power these speakers effectively?
I am only running smaller speakers for the surrounds. and have gotten a CSi3 from another user for cheap.
Thanks.

It will power them, but you will definitely see an improvement with an external amp (don't know if the 307 has pre-outs). I have the SR805 (105wpc). The speakers sounded good with that unit, but sounded much better when I added my sunfire amp.

I have the RTiA5's which are the newer version of the 8's. I am using a HK254 with only 50 wpc and my speakers soundd good. I was worried about the power as well before i purchased them but it turned out fine.
Dont worry about the power and get them. Worse cse dont turn them up extremely loud and you will be fine.Front - RTiA5's

Yes, but HK 50 Watts/Channel is alot different then Onkyo's 65W/Channel am I wrong?

Agreed - I wouldn't go by an AVR's rated power unless it is an HK or NAD.Living Room:....................

Zone 2 (Workout Room):

Thats what I have heard. lol.
i am pretty sure that you would be fine. You would just want to watch the volume so that the amp doesnt clip trying to push the speakers to hard. Depending on your budget and needs i would either get the 8's and start saving for a new amp. Or get a new amp and start saving for the 8's.Front - RTiA5's

You'll be fine for now. Like Packetjones said, careful on the volume.Living Room:....................

Zone 2 (Workout Room):

The RTi8's are pretty efficient, and don't really take a lot of power to sound great. You'll be fine running them with your 307.
They would definitely sound better with a good external amp, but they should sound great off of just your AVR too.The nirvana inducer-

I have a set of RTi10's and ran them off of my old TX-SR501 which was 65w per channel. I thought they sounded good. I upgraded to a TX-SR606 which is 90w per channel and could tell a nice improvement in sound. That's only a 35w jump. I can't imagine what they would sound like with a 200w amp. Must be like heaven.
Just don't make the mistake like I did and upgrade to something without pre-outs.It's all in the detail.
