Yes I have judged you. Fairly? only you know that for sure. I also know three other things.doctorcilantro wrote: »BIG SMILE TO ALAKSA.
Look any worse? You have already judged me. What does it matter what I do or say here now, in your humble opinion? Thanks for the unbelievably self-serving diatribe mate; it's good to see you have it all figured it. I didn't think you had it in you.
Zitro just left. Me too? When is selling something akin to abuse? I didn't need to cut anyone deals, but I did. You have taken what I feel is a relatively massive gray area and twisted it to peg me as the axis-of-evil. I'm sorry you are so angry but maybe that's just you.
Warm regards,
Jonathan
1. I would be judged also by others here in the same way if I did the same thing and am only surprised that more havent spoke up, if people simply said we understand its ok your having a tough time and left it at that this type of thing would occur more often.
2.That your apology in post # 26 seems to me to be full of excuses why you did what you did rather than any form of true contrition and even now you say you feel that it is a massive grey area. Sorry NO its not IMHO. You still dont seem to think you have done anything wrong.
3. Trust me on this I judge myself far more harshly than I do others. Do I feel that you are the axis of all evil? No. You may have done a lot of good things in your life and may continue to do so, only that this was not such a good one. As I said earlier you did the right thing by helping Zitro out Kudos to you for doing so irregardless of the reason/s. I am not angry at you only dissapointed in human nature. I wish no ill against you.
REGARDS SNOWWell, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all

I guess (at least for me) this is what makes Club Polk more like a "Family" than a generic internet forum. This is a rare and good thing.
In a generic Internet contest, you win a prize and the giver could care less what happens after that.
I think in the case of a CP Karma, it's evident that it's more like the giver is thoughtfully choosing a gift for a family member, and with that has certain expectations.
As far as that family perspective, I feel both Snow & Doc are MY family members and both have done right by me in the past. But now we have this rift and it looks like it is being resolved amicably. That's good.
Moving forward this is a good lesson. When we give or receive a Karma, I think we will be more aware of that "family" feeling that goes into it, and more aware that keeping Karma within the CP family is always best.VTL ST50 w/mods / RCA6L6GC / TlfnknECC801S

I hadn't looked into this thread until now. Anything I have to say has already been said.
Mark . . . I feel for you bro. You almost got porked.
Zitro congrats good karma for you.
One thing. Doc if you hadn't been outed would you have done the right thing anyway? -
I believe the handoff to Zitro would be outstanding.
Jon - It wasn't stated in the karma that in the event of financial misfortune, immediately during or after, winning a karma...that you should rebound the item back into the CP system. You are somewhat new and probably don't know how the older or junior members roll when it comes to things like this. That's how we roll, that's what karma is and that's really how the idea of karma giveaways here on Club Polk work. That being said, I believe you stated a more than acceptable solution and hopefully that will work out. I don't find joy or cold comfort in your situation and hope that you are able to rise above all things. You have my best wishes when it comes to that issue.
The main reason I became upset was the fact you did try to hide the whole affair. Polkies are everywhere and I knew as soon as you posted the Craigslist ad but was sick and didn't feel like dealing with it. I recall how you gushed to me in multiple private messages....in effect, were overjoyed at the fact that you had won a Karma such as this and how cool it was as you never seem to win anything. I only asked two things in PM....pay it forward, which you did with a solid tube karma....and if they had to be sold, sell them to Polkies. It may not be verbatim but I'm pretty sure since I've hosted a number of these that the gist of what I meant could not have been mistaken for anything less than....hook a brother up. I never cared if you made money on it, that was never the point, it was WHERE you made the money from it.
Look, what's done is done and I won't apologize for my reaction. I believe that you have made a stand-up offer to make good on what can be learned or resolved in this situation. You can also just sell the loudspeakers on Craigslist and move on....I'm only an internet pundit.
You may not understand the level of commitment some of us have for this forum but I've slaved days and weeks for this place, spent countless hours in offline support for my friends and to create cool things to ease new member entry into our little Polk coven. I eventually worked for Polk but even then most of what I do is 100% off the clock and because I'm a nerd. You have no idea....and that's just me....as we have more than a dozen hardcore, probably borderline crazy people that make a tremendous effort to give back and support our community. Yea, I know, it's just the internet but here it's still a little different. It's not just the discussion of the hobby and talk about what to connect to what, it's the discussion and support of a company and its actual product, both new and old.
There was NO database for ANYTHING when it comes to Polk before Club Polk. There was no SDA Compendium before a member took it upon himself to create it, which took almost 2 years of research and work with Polk. No one talked about crossover upgrades until a member took it upon himself to do so and now it's almost the bar standard of vintage SDA and/or Monitor upgrade. No schematic section existed until Ken Swauger was cornered, we threatened to burn his reel to reel tapes unless he released what he had and we got permission to post it. There was no Polkfest until a member chose to start them back in 2003....and look what they've become? Legendary. Etc, etc.
Whatever, we live and let live...we do what we do. I hope you recover but hey man, it's tough all over. I'm off to do nerd stuff.

Mark,I only asked two things in PM....pay it forward, which you did with a solid tube karma....and if they had to be sold, sell them to Polkies.
I totally missed this, I swear. I guess for many, it's beside the point. I felt that if I sold them here, it would simply be rude; a slap in the face. Again, I can't believe I missed your comment in PM; I would NEVER have even considered this if I had known that a priori. As I said before, I truly regret not having them sent to my uncle who I owe my life and love of music to. I'm happy that Zitro is now en route to Orlando with a really great setup. He's working hard for one more year at school and I hope this helps on those late nights when he is bogged down with his studies.
I apologize to the group, Polk, and especially to you Mark.
Zitro had his hands full in our driveway as I geeked out on him about speakers, PC sources, and vinyl. He has a great girl by his side. Apparently her Dad is a vinyl freak, and that's how he got hooked into this hobby. What a day.

No kidding, you made Zitro a happy camper so that is good.

Awesome way for things to turn out. Good on you!!

Great post Doro (#36). We are blessed to have a company forum like this (there truly is nothing else like CP out there), and even more blessed to have a guy like you involved in it!
