I have a question regarding speaker stands:

I am ordering a set of Wood Technology FGH-36 stands to place my RTi38 rear speakers on. These stands are 36" tall with a 4 1/2" square top plate. A larger 8 1/2" square top plate is also available.

The RTi38 measures 8 1/2"W x 12 1/2"D. Do you think these speakers will fit on the standard 4 1/2" top plates, or do I really need to order the larger 8 1/2" plates?

Thanks,
Ron

    Hey Ron,
I wouldn't put 38s on stands with 4.5 " plates, the speaker is almost 3 times deeper than the plate. I say go for the 8.5" plate or make your own plates.

I concur, get the larger plate, its a safer bet.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

May I ask where you are ordering from? I was looking at the metal stands from the same company for my 38's but I didn't like the small plate.

Where can you get a larger plate from?

I ordered them through crutchfield. Check out the link below. It tells you how to get the larger top plates:

QUOTE: "Optional Larger Top Plate: The included assembly instruction sheet contains an offer from Wood Technology for a pair of 8-1/2" square top plates for those speakers with width and/or depth dimensions of between 8-1/2" and 11". The cost is $14.95/pair including shipping and handling".
