For Sale - My record collection...

SOLD Quadzilla

Over 1250+ GOOD records from my personal collection. I found myself only listening to about 150 certain records on a regular basis, so why have the rest sitting here? I pulled a few of my choice selections and gifts from close friends and long gone audio oldtimers, and what's left is a TON of good music. These aren't a thrift store or curbside find I brought in from the rain, these are records I have owned for years, and purchased for a reason. You aren't getting 1000 copies of the Firestone Christmas Album.

Seeing as this is a local offering only - you are more than welcome to come "peruse" the collection being offered.

Ok, so what's in there? Well, to start, I'd say 35% of the collection is HARDCORE classical. Not the junk, the GOOD stuff. Duetsche Grammaphon, Verve, RCA Red Seal, RCA Living Stereo, VOX, Mercury Living Presence, London FFR, Phase 4 Stereo, etc etc. Again, the good stuff. Another 35% is rock. 50's to 80's, maybe some even some 90's thrown in. Chuck Berry, Elvis, Beatles, there's a dozen Rush and Zeppelin, Dire Straits, The Cars, Bruce Springsteen, etc etc etc. The rest? Every thing from Willie Nelson to Nancy Wilson. Say that three times fast. Grateful Dead. Sinatra. Bing. George Winston. Emerson Lake and Palmer. Neil Young. I could literally be here ALL night, and into the next.

PLEASE don't ask for an individual listing, it is NOT happening. There is EASILY $4000 here if I chose to take the time to photograph and list them individually. Take them, make some scratch (pun intended), or get your listen on. This is a VERY well rounded collection - great chance to bulk up your current collection, or would put someone new to the vinyl game in a VERY nice seat selection wise. Most are good to near mint, some could use a cleaning, some appear to have never been played. There are a few 'garbage' selections that were given to me by my grandmother - what was I going to say, no I don't want those? I'd say less than 50 for sure.

I know what's here, bring on the offers - again, you are more than welcome to come look - but I'm not entertaining splitting it up, it's all or nothing, at less than 50 cents a record. I might enteratain breaking it up into lots at a later day, but really just want to move it all right now.

Included in the asking price is the Ikea 'rack' that you see pictured, which wasn't made to hold records, but does the job PERFECTLY. It wasn't expensive, $149 I think, but I've had my records in this unit for over 5 years, and it hasn't budged or warped a bit. Solid. If you don't want it, you don't have to take it. Bring a truck. A BIG truck. Bring some friends. BIG friends. I know what's here, come over and see for yourself.

Questions? Email me, I'll give you my digits for a phone call if you desire. I'm in McKinney off Eldorado and Lake Forest with a fairly open schedule at present. Open to discuss partial / full trades for speakers / tube gear.

READ THIS: There is a good man doing GREAT things on this board with records - and I don't want to get in the way of that. I'll donate $50 of my own money upon the sale of the collection (I wish I could do more, but I'm selling to pay some bills), and all I ask is that you do the same.

Cheers,
Russ

*again, just want to stress that those of you that have given me gifts, or deals in the past - those selections are NOT included in this offering, those are near and dear to me, and will remain in my possesion*

This sounds like a fantastic deal for someone. If that someone finds it in their heart to return my Cannonball Adderley/John Coltrane to me I'd be eternally grateful.

Go for it Russ, I just made the sign of the cross over the whole affair and hope it moves quick.

George, if you would read the last note on the post, everything I have EVER gotten from you is remaining here, period. Everything from Tiff, Papa Grand, and that **** Tony Rome. I wouldn't DARE, those go to the grave with me. The history means more than the selection to me.

    Cheers,

media mail would be the cheapest way to ship them I believe. Russ... if a group of folks were able to come together for perhaps a three way spilt, would you be interested in that?

This is a very good way to build very nice collection of LPs quickly. Even with GG's excellent prices you are talking about 150-200 LPs (and worth every penny BTW). This is probably a steal but I would bet that the crossover between what I already have (of the R&R stuff) and what is for sale is substantial.

If you live within driving distance go get it...sell something if you have to...because it is worth it. Pickout what you want and put the rest on ebay or craigslist and you might even get most of your money back.

I am so glad that you are nowhere near where I live, because I can't afford to spend $600 right now, and this is too good a deal to pass up.

    Good luck with the sale.

Shack, come on, I do NOT have any Kajagoogoo or Wham in there, nothing would be duplicated in your collection.

George, those LP's were donated to science. They wore gloves when they took them away for reason.....

nooshinjohn, sounds like an EXCELLENT idea. Find two more members, one of which lives close to me, and HE can pay me, pick them up, and handle the shipping for the group.

    Jeebus.

I hope you have thought this through. I have recently regretted (several ways) having given away some of my vinyl. I thought at the time I was doing "them" a favor and I would never listen to them again. I was wrong.:o

Good luck and I'm sure somebody will be very happy. I would consider this but alas, I am too far away.

Thanks for the well wishes Kevin. I've got a stash of 150 or so set aside before I made this post. It was hard, real hard to keep passing up AWESOME stuff and leaving it in the for sale pile as I flipped through them all.

No regrets at all, if they go to a Polkie, a local one at that, and I'm not persona non grata at said abode - I can STILL get my listen on every now and then. ;)

    Cheers,
    Russ

I'm extremely interested. Let me check and see if a road trip is feasible at this time.

I'm going to keep the sale open, and wait to hear back from you, just keep me in the loop. Let's talk before, and I'll throw this out to ANY Polkie not local but wanting to travel, I'll sit down and make the damn list before someone does a road trip. I'm not sure how far audiophile hell is from McKinney, but a local guy can pop in and say 'hell yeah' or 'F this', you can't.

If you feel like making the trip, just tell me, and I'll take a day to list it all.

    Cheers,
