I know opinions vary on the posting of "other" speakers in the forum, but these may go cheap and are not seen too often anymore. Given the issues the pair has they could go for $500 or less.

    I just saw this and came over here to see if anyone else had spotted it. If they go for a reasonable amount I'll probably take them. Can anyone comment on the feasibility of building a new crossover for them, and what you expect that to cost? I can solder with reasonable aptitude

    Has anyone already bid on these? Let's not step on each other's toes..

    Can't help you on the x-over excepting that they are complex and incorporate a good deal of passive EQ in their design. My CA repair manual is "in the mail".

    I think F1 is sniffing them...

    I sent the seller an email last night about midnight. I'm still waiting for his answer and what he tells me will help me make up my mind about bidding on them. I was mostly looking at them as spare parts, however the idea of fixing them to resell did cross my mind.

    The crossover is all point to point wiring, meaning there is no printed circuit board and it is a effn mess to figure out without the schematics. The seller states in his ad that his local tech couldn't figure out how to fix it.........maybe he didn't want to or didn't have the schematics or doesn't know what he's doing. I do plan on upgrading my crossovers once the schematics arrive, if nothing other than upgrading the caps. The damn thing has more ceramic resistors than swiss cheese has holes. As far as his bad crossover, I don't think there is anything on them that can't be replaced, but without knowing exactly what is wrong it's hard to say how much it would cost. If it needs new inductors the parts cost could be into the many hundreds and you would most likely have to have them custom made to the original specs or use upgraded ones on both crossovers to balance them out. Still interested???

    My copy of the repair manual arrived today (done alot of business with Techman777). The schematics for all the series are included and are different, but none looks all that intimidating on paper...

    yeah i emailed him this morning, no reply. Didn't realize how far away Erie was. (6-7 hours) I do have a relative close by though so I may still be interested depending on price. Let's work it out before either of us bids, don't need to drive up the price for nothing. Maybe if you were interested you could fix them up and sell them to me at a profit. All depending on price, of course; Im in no hurry, this is definitely not the perfect pair, and Amazings aren't that rare. PM me or email me if necessary

    hey, do any of you guys know anyone in Erie, PA that will install a new steering wheel? This would entail in removing the old steering wheel which has an airbag in it. Please reply if you know of any place around here since I just moved here not too long ago...thanks.

    Whenever I think of the U.S. it always seems so far away. I just checked up where Erie was and it's not far from my brother's house in Niagara Falls (2 hrs). I'm guessing these things probably need a truck or van to haul em north, eh?

    I don't think I'm too interested in them seeing I'd have to get them repaired and would probably have a fine time finding a repair shop.

    i was planning on stuffing them in a sedan. carver recommends you transport them on their sides rather than horizontally, i figure you can lay them over the passenger seat and into the back seat. Im not buying them, however.

    Good luck with the steering wheel, try and auto repair shop??..

    How about a 2000 cougar hatchback with the back seats down? I was able to fit the RT1000i's in box with 2 12inch subs in a box.

    I'd hesitate to transport them flat, and I doubt they's fit on their side even with the hatch left open. Idea is to keep road bumps from jarring the ribbons in the direction of their travel thus possibly doing damage, which is about a $400 per speaker "aw ****"...

    If you go for them, borrow a van. Lose any rear seats and take some lumber (if you can get that across the border... ;) ) to fashion braces. Plenty o' padding, too...

    Come to think of it, I'll have to pass.

    Good one on the lumber. LMAO. :D It's a pretty big bone of contention north of the border. Maybe down there too, I don't know.

    it is prety easy to fix a cross over. just get the one that works and buld a new one to match. or maybe 2 so they will have the same sonic sig. caues if you cant find the same man of caps and coils they might have a little differance.
    all crossovers have paths. all you have to do is trace the path.

    if you get them i can draw you up a scematic if you can send me alot of pics of the good cros over. i just need alot of pics good clean pics.

    thanks, I saw those. $200+ in freight charges from florida surely puts them over my $1000 price target. Plus disaster may strike with those fragile ribbons, $600 in ribbon repair and I would rather scrap the speakers all together. Still holding out for local with a decent price.
