I found an Adcom 5400 locally. I am assuming this would be a good starting point in seperates/amplification(?). I could use the 5400 to power the center or the rears in my 5.1, and then down the road purchase something larger for the fronts.

Amplifier Output Details 125 Watt - 8 Ohm - THD 0.18 % - 2 channel(s) , 200 Watt - 4 Ohm - THD 0.18 % - 2 channel(s)

I think using this to run even the mains would free up some power on your AVR for the other channels. What does your system consist of?
Polk Audio Surround Bar 360
Mirage PS-12
LG BDP-550
Motorola HD FIOS DVR
Panasonic 42" Plasma
XBOX 360

Office stuff

Allied 395 receiver
Pioneer CDP PD-M430
RT8t's & Wharfedale Diamond II's

I would use it to power those 9s and let the 05 drive everything else until you pick up a 5 channel amp later on.
