    3' tall?.........my wife would kill me lol. Looks good though although did you make the box that size for lowered frequency response paired with the flared port? I want to keep my DIY sub enclosure the same size if not smaller than what the model it comes from uses so I'd have curved ports inside the box. Also thought about an active woofer/passive radiator design....hmmm

    Yea, some guru at home theater shack was giving me input and said I needed to it around 9 cubic feet in order for a good tuning of 18hz. it had something to do with air travel yada yada

    Yea, I just purchased an HSU v-1 driver from jephood on this forum and well, the box dimensions for the model it comes from isn't that "small" either. There are alternatives though you can look up online, I mean sure youd need some space for the air to travel through for some good tuning but it doesn't have to be a straight pipe either. I saw pics of "external" ports that wrap a long ways around the exterior of the subwoofer.

    I am going to put some matching veneer around the cabinet when I am done to make it look at pretty and blend in.

    I think that sub you posted will be way more of an attention getter than my sub! hah
    Also, I plan on puttin the sub behind a chair in the corner, only thing that will be visible will be about the top 10" or so.

    Thats a good driver, but your gonna have a hell of a time finding the T/S Parameters to tune that baby correctly.

    Im not really too sure about how it will come out, but I'll surely post pics of the project once its all done. What driver and amp are you using? If you can pick up a stereo amp that you can bridge, or anything thats stand alone it should be better (in terms of heat/efficiency and sheer output) as opposed to a plateamp. I might go plateamp anyway due to lack of space for another amp, running another set of speaker wires and cost.

    Dayton 15" HF and Bash 300. I wanted a plate amp so I don't have to buy an equalizer or also buy a high pass filter. The Bash 300 comes with an HPF at 17.7hz, helps limit over excursion.

    The Dayton driver is also a max of 500 Watts, no use in buying an external amp to get more watts than it can handle. Don't want to blow the sucker.

    I talked to Parts-express yesterday and well, they couldve either lied to me or told me the truth but they were saying that their dayton amps ran cooler than their BASH plate amps, and recommended them for stability if I were to "drive it hard."

    I think you would be okay with either. If you go with dayton and get a 240watt plate amp, just get the normal one. Not the one with the boost at 30hz.

    Oh trust me I wouldn't have gotten the boost for anything. My thing about "boosts/enhancements" is that anything you "boost" will be artificial and shouldn't be done because at higher volumes it can lead to some nasty distortion. If using any type of equalizer, I'd prefer to "subtract" from some part of the frequency range to tame it.

    As far as amp goes, I'm looking at a 500watter....and a nice sized box since space won't be much of an issue. I had a Velodyne CHT-12 (400watt/12" slot loaded son of a gun) with a Polk PSW-10 on top of it. Now that was a huge stack.

    Actually, I think I might be able to get around to it next week sometime. I actually bought all the MDF and Oak Plywood a few days ago.
