I've been reading a bit on passlabs.com regarding the Pass Preamp and I think Nelson Pass did not design the newer pre such as X0.2, X1, X2 and XP series. The last PRE he designed was Aleph P for pass labs?

Is it right or is he still involved with the design of the newer Pass Pre?

That's what I think too. Wayne Coburn said in X1's OM only very few people were involved in the design of it and he had personally tested every X1.

I am thinking whether to go with X1 or Aleph P.

Wayne Coburn has been in Nelson's stable for quite sometime. Not just Pass Labs, I believe he was at Threshold and even did some work with Forte, but don;t quote me on that though. (going on memory). To be sure it is a collaborative effort with Wayne definitely taking the lead.

Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it.
