You obviously missed the joke as well as the SNL reference.

No, I got the REAL joke and the REAL SNL reference. You got the reference WRONG. The joke from SNL is precisely: "The Holy Roman Empire was neither holy nor Roman nor an empire. Discuss."

So my correcting you, was, in fact, funny. If you knew the joke. Since the Roman Empire is Roman and is an Empire. It is the Holy Roman Empire, that is neither Holy or an Empire.

So what do you want? A cookie?

You were probably one of those kids in grade school that would raise their hand 5 minutes before the bell on Friday and remind the teacher she forgot to give out homework assignments.

You know what people like that end up doing when they get all growed up? They write in to the producers at Paramount to tell them how much they screwed up the dialog between Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock in the latest Star Trek movie.

Honestly though, you're probably the only one laughing. Whether the quote was exact or not, the point was a light attempt at humor.

Then again, you probably don't even know who Voltaire is or that the quote in question was actually taken from his "Dictionnaire philosophique" work in which many articles attack and criticize the Roman Catholic Church. It wasn't a joke, it wasn't satire either. It was a philosophical and political critique on the Catholic Church.

But if you are referring to the Catholic Church as the "joke" then you're an ****.

I've read this thread a couple of times and I've really tried to care about this topic. But it just isn't working for me. I do feel sorry for the kids, and maybe some better parents will step up and someone will make a wise decision on who should raise them.

Other than that I'm just upping my post count.
