Wanted Soundcraftsmen PM840

Hello... I am looking for a Soundcraftsmen PM840 amplifier that is in good condition that you are no longer using. I can pay about
$150.00. My daughter's room has the RT7 and I need a cheap
amp like this to power the RT7.

I prefer only this Model of Soundcraftsmen amp.

If you have one and if you wish to part, please let me know.

    I have the PCR-800. Isn't that the same thing with slightly different face plate? Bought it awhile back for $225 but really have no use for it right now. $175? This is the smaller sized unit which is about 8.5" wide and maybe 5" tall. Have schematics and all and from me you can be assured it is in perfect condition.

    Thanks for the reply. They are the same size but the PM840 I am
    looking is one that should have a little more power than the PCR800. I hope I can find the PM840 sometimes.

    madmax, can you please post a picture of this amplifier. There is one at abay for $52.00 for 4 days to go and they usually went
    to $99.00 to $120.00. Your asking is a little bit higher on my budget.

    I'll post a pic sometime tomorrow. It seems to be a problem right now. It says the size is too large but I've done it before. These normally sell for $150-$230 on ebay. I got mine for $225 + shipping. (not that you couldn't have seen some for less). What is cool about mine is it looks like it never left the original box. There is also many that have a wrong value resistor which controls the fan circuit which is the reason they were not sold originally and sold off in bulk. Mine was purchased from a fellow who replaced the resistor with the appropriate one. Many others have had the fan quit without noticing it then it burning up the mosfet outputs. I have schematics which I can send you even if you buy another. Actually if you send me an e-mail I'll send you the pics directly. I'm at csmallwood@marsh-mcbirney.com.

    Mine looks like this but on the front panel it has vertical lines (actually ovals) which looks like air slots. It is actually a solid panel just like this one though. Oh yea, it looks about 100 years newer and also has the proper mods.

    edit: If you are really interested in a soundcraftsmen (as you should be) I have a DDR-1200 which I will sell for $375. It is a world above the little pcr-800 in power and quality and looks really cool with about 150+ led's. Anyone here will tell you I am a consciensious seller and will take care of you if you have problems. Not many can say that. I am a Soundcraftsmen guy but at this point I have too many. Let me know if you need any schematics or any advise.

    Hey Chuck,
    Do you have the schematic for your DDR1200's power transformer? I need a new power transformer for my DDR's I think
    the wiring inside is worn out, it produces a little hums for both
    speakers.
    I am looking for someone to winding it and I need the specs.

    They don't show stuff like that on the schematics. Last time I talked to them at MTX-Soundcraftsmen they were happy to send me what they had but knew little about the older stuff. (before they bought the company). It is a +/- 70 volt supply capable of maybe 40 amps total. It would probably be more reasonable to find a center tapped 140 volt 40 amp transformer from someone who makes them rather than trying to re-wind one. Check Newark. I think they sell xformers. Do a search on the internet as well. (the center tap ends up being the ground potential with one side being + 70 volts out with 120 volts in and the other side being -70 volts with 120 volts in. So... 70V + 70v = a center tapped 140 volt transformer. Sorry for the technical stuff here but you can show this reply to a technician if you know one and he can help you pick one out.

    That one on E-bay is pretty ugly. My PCR 800 has had the fan replaced and sounds pretty sweet.
