Amp for LSI9s and LSIC

Don't worry about stated watts so much....focus on amps that can drive 4 ohm loads no problem. Those speakers will drop below 4 ohms which will make it EXTREMLY hard for pretty much any AVR (in your price range except NAD) to push without getting extremly hot or going into protect mode - shutting off.
I don't suggest getting the Onkyo by itself to power those.Living Room:....................

Zone 2 (Workout Room):

Again - thanks for the thoughts guys - particularly with those amps.If you are not willing to spend the money to make sure the speakers operate to their full potential & without worry about blowing something out from too little power, then get different speakers.
I don't mind spending up to the fullness of my budget. But i saw an possible opportunity to get in well under and thought i'd look at it. Now i know to look for minimum 200 wpc into 8 ohm to drive them. I guess i was just hoping that it would be as easy as finding something on Craigslist and being done with it - no big deal
Getting different speakers is rather out of the question now - though i still see them as one of the best bang for buck speakers out there that i could find. Not my setup - but what I have put together for a friend (i.e. what mine would be if i had the money to invest

Again.....don't look at what the amp is driving into 8 ohms!! You are not powering 8 ohm speakers. You are powering 4 ohm speakers. Look at what the amp does @ 4 ohms.Living Room:....................

Zone 2 (Workout Room):

I guess the idea behind it is this - the speakers in question are stated to handle 200wpc into 4 ohms. So if i get an amp powerful enough to drive 200 wpc into 8 ohms, and is rated to handle a 4 ohm load, then it would be more than adequate to handle the necessary load for the speakers.
The only reason to look at 8 ohm capacity as i see it is that it's the standard used. Usually, you have to dig to find the 4 ohm capacity, but the 8 ohm capacity is usually in the title - that's all. But yeah - obviously - you're looking for a powerful enough 4 ohm load. Not my setup - but what I have put together for a friend (i.e. what mine would be if i had the money to invest

Curved, most amps that are driving 200wpc @ 8ohms will be pushing 300wpc or more @ 4ohms. That's why I recommend the 200 @ 8. There is never any question that the speakers are getting adequate power. But the LSI, can & will take even more & sound even better.Again.....don't look at what the amp is driving into 8 ohms!! You are not powering 8 ohm speakers. You are powering 4 ohm speakers. I think we're on the same page. I just didn't want him to go out and get an amp because it can drive x amount of watts into 8 ohms. I just wanted to make sure he will buy an amp that can run the LSi's because they do dip into 2 ohms occasionally.

Any amp will run the LSI's. The question then becomes is will they be run to their full potential. But both know they will run/sound better with 300wpc @4 then with 200wpc @ 4.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2

An Onkyo M282 amp will not power those LSi's....well, maybe for a short while.
I would rather have my Adcom 545 to power those than an Audiosource 300. The Audiosource puts out more watts/channel.Living Room:....................

Zone 2 (Workout Room):

I'm not sure i understand. Are you asking b/c you have one you'd like to sell? (I haven't seen it in the marketplace) - or because you've seen one somewhere for sale that you're passing on? Or b/c you're in a similar predicament and you're wanting thoughts on this for you?

You may want to post a new thread as i don't know if too many are still looking at this one
Are you in the exact same boat? (i.e. looking for an amp to run LSI9s and an LSIC? If so - then the advice given so far is great - look for a solid amp that is designed to run both 8 ohm and 4 ohm, and since the speakers are designed for 200wpc / 4 ohm, get an amp that will do 200wpc / 8 ohm, that way the 4 ohm will be MORE THAN plenty
Such amps would be...
Acurus 200x3 (what Sami is selling to me for my setup)
Adcom 5503
3 x Outlaw Monoblocks
And really, any other reputable brand that will run well in excess of 200wpc / 4 ohm
And once you have some options (looking at the Polk market place, audiogon, various audiophile forums all over the place with classified sections, ebay, craigslist) then start a new thread asking people about your options and what they think
Hope it helps - and good luck! Not my setup - but what I have put together for a friend (i.e. what mine would be if i had the money to invest

I setup my LSi9/LSiC/LSiFX combo tonight with an outlaw 750 amplifier. This amp is rated 5 x 165 @ 8 Ohm and 5 x 250 @ 4 Ohm. Sounds great to me! I bought it used for $550 shipped with BJC interconnect cables.

Yeah - the Outlaw was on my list of ones to look at - though out of price range personally (keeping at $400 and under) - but i'm glad to hear it's sounding good for you!
Sami just shipped the Acurus 200x3 today! So in a few days, i'll be enjoying it as well! (at least until i have to go home, then my buddy can keep enjoying it from there - oh well - someday i'll do my OWN setup
