What Deoxit should I get for my speaker terminals? I found the spray but can I just spray it on a piece of cloth and wipe the terminals on my drivers so I don't get the over spray on them? never used it so I am not sure what to get.

Thanks!!!

I wouldn't buy any DeOxit specifically for what you are talking about. I would buy the D5 flushing spray (for cleaning pots/switches) and use it for everything else too. I use it primarily to clean out scratchy switches and pots on vintage gear, but I also use it to clean RCA outputs, speaker terminals, etc.

For cleaning connections, I use a couple different sized mascara brushes that my wife wasn't using anymore. Just spray a tiny bit on the connection, then brush. Keep a paper towel near to contain overspray/drippage. The D5 cleans off oxidation, but if you want to maintain, you also need to use the CAIG Pro Gold (or whatever its called today). You can get it in a brush on or pen style. Just apply and leave it.

To me this would be ok..or, you can spray a little into a cup and dip your terminals, thats what I did, no problems at all.

I have used the Deoxit Gold, but I put the Deoxit Shield on my speaker terminals. See the link below. Either would work OK though (Gold or shield).

Regular Dexoit in the nail polish container. Not a fan of the gold since it leaves a residue. And the fader lube(D5) is just for that, volume pots, etc...

Where would you use the 5% (D5) vs the 100% (D100) solution?

D5 is not the same as fader lube. Fader lube is F5 (or other F designations). D5 is regular deoxit in a 5% flushing spray. It leaves no significant residue. Its designed to flush out dust and oxidation.

Fader lube is just that, a lubricant designed to keep sliders/pots/etc in top performing condition.
Where would you use the 5% (D5) vs the 100% (D100) solution?

You might use it on an area where you do not want overspray or you don't need to flush. Just straight removal of oxidation. Personally, I make due with just the D5 stuff. I have a pen of the ProGold, but I normally forget to use it. Overall, the D5 is the most versatile of all Caig products IMHO.

You can get DeOxit pretreated cloth wipes and use a wooden Q-tip to get into those tight spaces to wipe down the terminals and clean the banana insert hole.
