Roger Walters Announces "The Wall" Tour

I will be trying to get tickets to one of the Chicago shows. I saw Pink Floyd (sans Roger Waters) in something like 1986-87 at County Stadium in Milwaukee WI. I was pretty wasted by the time they hit the stage. From what dim memories I have it was awesome and I was far away.
Pink Floyd has never been a huge favorite of mine, but this is a great opportunity to re-live some of my youth and listen to some great songs live.
H9"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. all,, don't miss the starting gun;)
This should be mandatory for all Polkies :cool:JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut) -
A show like this isn't necessarily about the sound quality. It's about the entire show itself...and the experience.
A lot of it is just the energy and vibe from the crowd, just simply from being there.
I'll be there contributing to that energy...without question!!The nirvana inducer-

I'm not as ancient as you are, and perhaps my list of venues and musical outings wouldn't impress but it seems like an odd comment. If you go to a concert expecting audio excellence, imaging, time array, no sibilance, ethereal bass response and most other audio ridiculous adjectives....why are you even in this hobby?
It either sounds good or it doesn't, who cares, it's live and you're THERE....have a good time or waste it with a critique of all of it's faults. Good luck.
ANCIENT!:eek::eek::p As far as the rest Mark, that would be a good bit overboard. I'm not that nuts . . . yet!;) -

Can't wait to find prices for the Tacoma show. No matter the cost i'm taking my dad with me, and might even get drunk just for this occasion!
As far as sound goes, is there a quality difference between the "middle" of the venue and the "nose-bleed" areas?"Dr Dunn admitted that his research could also be interpreted as evidence that women are shallower than men. Hey,
An idea has occurred. Should CP members meet and view this concert together? You know, collectively buy a block of seats or something of that nature?
This could be a multi-USA CP event. Something that CP members can travel to within their, say, 500 mile travel range. That concert is working its way across the continental USA and may not ever be in concert again.
Anybody interested in this concept?

IIRC seats purchases will be limited to the buyers,, I'll be at the Atlanta show,,and I know of a couple polkies attending as well. Bottom line--don't miss this one,, who knows how many,if any more US tours he will make,, he ain't gettin' any younger,,and probabally has enough money.JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

I was at that show, and the tour before that in the Omni. Both are tops in my book for live shows.Dodd - Battery Preamp

Indeed, I've heard from others that he has indicated that this will in fact be his swan song for touring. Of course, some artists say that and then come back and do another reunion, but Waters strikes me as the type of individual who would stick to his words. In short, I'm guessing this will be the last we see of him on the road...he'll be taking The Wall show to Europe in 2011, but that will probably be it.2 Ch.

That is exactly my point concerning this excitement!!! It will likely be his last tour.
Upon reflection. I doubt CP can work together to grab a block of seats of this tour. The seats for this specific tour will sell out more or less instantly when they are available for sell. -
the band-- I know that Snowy was with him during the "in the flesh" tour--have to check out the others,, it ain't gonna be bad though,, btw-- attendence is mandatory

Jeez...just checked out the prices for the Tacoma show, and the worst seats in the house start out at $116 each with the "best" going for $1200.
I don't do many concerts (this is my 2nd) so I don't know...is this pretty normal?"Dr Dunn admitted that his research could also be interpreted as evidence that women are shallower than men. Back in high school, my good friend came up to me before home room and asked "what are you doing this afternoon?" to which I replied,"Nothing why?" he told me I was going with him to Montreal to see Pink Floyd. I ran to my locker put all my crap in there and I was off. It was a blast one of the most visually entertaining shows ever.

Yes, that is pretty expensive. I had heard that the sort gen. admission tickets were going between $50 (cheapest) and $120...not mentioning the deluxe ones that you mentioned at over 1k. But apparently the rates are different from venue to venue.
Anyway, while this is definately not a normal range, ticket prices have skyrocketed across the board since the 1990s. I remember seeing the H.O.R.D.E. festival in '96, which included sets by 6 quality bands for a gen. admission price of about $28. These days, a cheaper ticket to one band I really want to see will be in the 45 to 60 dollar range, when you include service charges.
Basically, since most bands aren't making any money off CDs because of the digitization of music and easy share of that format over the internet, they have had to raise prices for tickets to recoup their losses. Second, there has recently been a merger between the two biggest concert promoters (Live Nation and another whose name escapes me) which hasn't helped matters.
In this case, I'm guessing there are two other factors at play: the Wall set and the crew it takes to assemble and disassemble after each gig probably isn't cheap. Second, most hard core fans of The Wall are probably assumed to be in their 40s or 50s and thus perceived to have the disposable funds that say a 20 year-old concert goer might not have....just a guess.2 Ch.

Good thoughts and probably a good guess Norm, thanks for both.
No matter the price, I'll be going (that's what I keep telling my wife...). I will be at the Xcel in St. Paul, in october for sure!! Wish he was goin to Milwaukee, I would have selected that instead even though its 3 more hours of drive time for me then St. Paul, like Heiney9 I was at the County Stadium show in 87' and it was an awesome show! BTW 'The Dark Side of the Moon' was my first introduction into CD's, shortly after I bought my first pair of Polks(i still have that cd and them speakers too). Most of them only hear how loud it sounds, and the rest of us hear everything else -
