So I recently picked up a pair of Monitor 4's with peerless tweeters. I have Monitor 10b's that have the SL1000 tweeters, so my question is can I put the peerless tweets into the 10's with no worries? Any input is helpful, and thanx in advance!:D tom
Most of them only hear how loud it sounds, and the rest of us hear everything else -

If I recall you have to mod the crossover to do so, but I advise not too till someone confirms this..

The 1000 is the replacement for the Peerless (5514?) Double check but I'm 99% pretty sure.

If that's the case that would be awesome. I might have been thinking about the SL2000.

The Peerless Xover has an 'extra' 2.7ohm resistor for the tweeter circuit, in addition to the standard 2.7ohm resistor....(I think that value is right) I have to check my notes.

    You're close.

Most of the Peerless equipped Monitors used both 2.7 and 4.5 ohm resistors in the HF signal path. I believe some of them used slightly different values, but they added up to essentially the same overall value.

Most of the SL-2000 equipped Monitors used either a single 2 ohm resistor, or a single 2.7 ohm resistor in the HF signal path.

I'm not sure what values the SL-1000 equipped Monitors used...but I don't believe it's the 2.7/4.5 combo of the Peerless tweeters.

Check the XO's in your 10's, and tell us what the values of the resistors are, then we should be able to tell you one way or the other.

I'm not positive, but I think there might also be some slight differences in the cutouts between the 1000's and the Peerless...don't quote me on that though.

My Monitor 10b's with SL1000's (They are the "5514.." magnet ) have the 2.7ohm in the direct path and the 2.7ohm additional in the 'Contour' path. SL1000's and the faceplates are the same size as a "5514.." Peerless tweeter I have.

For the datalist....the Mon7's with Peerless have the extra 4.5ohm resistor while the Mon 5's with Peerless have an extra 6.2ohm resistor. I have been collecting data for possibly 'upgrading' my SL1000's in my Mon 7b's.

The answer to your original question is yes.

If you intend to convert them to "spec" then take the advice offered above.

Tom, I am not certain. I know there is some Mon 10 w/ Peerless owner's who have done an Xover upgrade, and they listed the values, but I have not had time to research it.

A couple of months ago, there was talk of getting wiring diagrams for the Early Peerless equipped models, but then there was the whole forum 'snafoo' thing and I don't think anything has materialized of that. I only very recently got my Model 10's and while I maybe considering a Peerless swap at some point, I am happy enough with 'my' SL1000's for now, so I have not dug too deep into the requirements. (I think I got a set of the 'good' ones ...LOL)

Bottom Line is, they will fit in the holes, and they will make sound. You are not going to damage them or anything else by trying them. See how they sound TO YOU. You can always 'upgrade/ modify' the Xover at a later date. I just don't know the 'exact' resister load designed for the Peerless tweeter's.

Someone else who HAS the Mon10b w/ Peerless needs to speak up, unless you can find the threads I mentioned. I will keep my eye open though.

Ok, I will give it try to see if it sounds right. I have never been completely satisfied with the harshy sound of the SL1000's after I got my 7's with the SL2500 tweeters. I will post tomorrow after I listen to them.

    I think that's a good plan.
I chimed in before because when I picked up my pair of SDA-1A's the previous owner had installed peerless tweeters in them.

Some here said no, no, no you can't do that, SDA's never used peerless tweeters.

Well they sound great and for me they aren't museum pieces that must remain unaltered.

    Let your ears decide.

I should point out that early 10Bs with SL1000s use the 6600X or (6501 ) driver while earlier 10s (Denmark Peerless tweeter ) and 10As (US made Peerless) use 6500s
