during some of the ship loading operations we had some very skilled pilots and they liked to show off some. as the ground and hook up crew so did we. imagine a 47 seanight coming in at about 40 knotts. doing a 180 6 ft off the ground right over your head and then leaving with the sling just as fast. all in one smooth motion. you have just enough time to throw the hook on and split. no inside director or other guidence just pure know how and practice. now put 6to 10 of them in a 1 1/4 mile loop all dong the same maneuver and in reverse when they get to the ship. its a symphony of aircraft pilot and ground crew all harmonizing with one specific goal. the ability of a military aircraft pilot regardless of the style of craft is something to be relished not critisized. they are simply amazing and the best at what they do.
