Hello everyone, I'm new here just picked up my 1st set of Polk speakers and they sound great except I need rear channels to complete my 5.1 setup. I'm currently running:
L/R: RTi8
Center: VM20
Sub: PSW400

What I'm looking for is maybe small bookshelves like RTiA1 or VM20 since all they handle is noise like objects moving past.

Thx

Welcome to club Polk.Depending on your budget,I'd say go with some FXi A4 or 6's on polk direct on eBay. And then again go with RTiA1's as you wanted.either one should do you fine.

I would recommend a CSi5 center to match those RTi8's.

I'd go with something from the RTi series...I would also STRONGLY suggest changing your center channel to something from the RTi series.

I used to use RTi6's as surrounds, with a CSi5 and RTi8's up front. It sounded great.

Any of the FXi series speakers would work very well also.

Another vote for upgrading your center, you have no idea what you are missing, lol. I usually recommend the biggest/baddest center you can afford/fit in your HT. IMHO, the center channel is the most important speaker in any HT rig as it carries something like 50-75% of all audio in a given movie, esp. dialogue so you don't want to skimp on it. That should be your first upgrade, then look into the RTi's for your surrounds. Welcome to Club Polk.

Nothing wrong with it per se it's just not timbre matched witha completely different tweeter and different drivers. It will have a very different tonal quality from your rti8s. In movies most of the voices and some muisc come from the center channel with less coming from the lr channels. The voices and music won't sound the same. A potentially bigger problem is that the music/effects/ambient noises coming from the rti8s will overwhelm your center channel. The csi3 or 5 will match correctly with the same tweeter and drivers and will be able to keep up better volume wise.

Of course, having said all that your ears are the final judge. If u r happy with what ur hearing then leave it be. But stick around this forum and upgraditis is bound to follow.

+1 on what rooftop said. Couldn't have said it any better myself. Trust me, put a CSi3 or 5 in there and you will see what you have been missing.
