Hey guys,

I have been a long time Polk user and due to some size constraints of my new place I need to off load my Polk R300's, I have two of them, and the original boxes only have had them a few months :( ..I was thinking about putting them up on Ebay but I don't want to get hosed on shipping, anyone have any recommendations and/or what I should charge for shipping?

Thanks, J

Charge actual cost of shipping and add $5-$10 handling for gas if you want. Figure out the weight and dimensions of speakers in the boxes and use the postage calculator rather than a flat fee and you cant get hosed.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

ok cool I just didn't know if I could accurately use one of the shipping calculators as I didn't know if it was considered oversized or they charged extra for the weird shape. Hate to see them go but they are taking up too much space in a tiny room. Hopefully I can find another Polk product that is smaller that will match well with the R series and can mount on the wall and not be an eyesore.

now-a-days the shipping companies charge based on actual dimensions rather than general sizes/tiers.. there are minimum charges based on sizes though. Just make sure you have the weight and dimensions right and the estimator will be accurate

I had a fairly long conversation with a local shipping center about just such a topic =)

I've been using the usps estimator tool on line to ship stuff and it comes really close to the actual cost. Factor in the cost of the box, insurance, delivery confirmation and I've come pretty close. Oversized boxes kill you though for shipping, and weight.
