i recently purchased two gnx124 for my ford escape '02
i have them in a sealed q-logic box and i am running them with a Profile ca400m Amp. which specs are:
200 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms
320 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms
it is a mono amp and i have them wired parallel for two ohms. what i wanted to know is if this is enough power for both of them to really sound their best or is it too little? please help before my 30 day trial passes on my amp. so i can eigther keep it or change it for a one with more power.

thats 160 per sub -- its enough -- i mean i'll be completely 100% honest and blunt with you.

i dont like to put anything less than 200 watts to a sub... now the gnx is rated at 175 -- so u'd think that 200 wouldn't be a big deal only 25 watts above rating... but they're so damned flimsey -- i mean u go to press on the cone from behind and your finger causes the cone to dent instead of move forward ... the sub should move forward a small amount with linearity - the cone not getting a dent in it from yoru finger's pressure. based on this -- its clear to me that you cant really beat the **** out of a GNX or you're going to --- well --- beat the **** out of it.

as such... i'm no longer sticking by the "200 is fine -- more is always better" statement and going to a "follow the RMS" -- by which -- 160 is only 15 watts under RMS -- and while profile isn't top shelf, its not junk -- that's a decent amp, made out of pretty good components that ought to last you a while... they dont get hot, they dont tend to clip out, and quality of sound is actually pretty damn good.

so i'm gonna say stick with the profile and call it a day.
