Grateful Dead and Pink Floyd vinyl.

Hey everyone, I know this may be a bit of a long shot, but I'm trying to find some Grateful Dead, and Pink Floyd on vinyl.

As far as the Dead go, I'm interested in just about any vinyl you've got. The only Dead vinyl that I've got, is American Beauty, and Workingmans Dead...and both could stand to be replaced with nicer copies anyway. I'm looking specifically for any of their studio albums, and any of the official "LiveDead" albums. Any other Dead vinyl(greatest hits, compilations etc.) will also be considered.

Floyd? Basically the same. I've got several Floyd albums on vinyl, but most of them could stand to be replaced.

I've already got the 30th Ann. DSOTM vinyl, along with a nearly pristine copy of "A Nice Pair"(Piper at the Gates, and Saucerful of Secrets packaged together). I'm also planning on buying myself a shiny new vinyl copy of "ECHOES" before too much longer.

Other than those few, I'm interested in just about any Floyd vinyl you've got.

If you've got anything, post here or shoot me a PM, and maybe we can work something out.:)

Thanks,

Curt

Now that I think about it...if you've got any Allman Brothers or Bob Dylan vinyl to get rid of...I'd probably be interested in those too.

I have just come into a few Dead albums. (6-8). I will send a list in the next couple of days. Condition wise... how good is good to you? I don't want to waste your time if you are looking for pristine. These all looked pretty clean at first glance, I would not have taken them otherwise. That being said, the jackets betray the condition on the vinyl. Jackets are not pristine.
    Your thoughts?
    Glen

Might take some jazz in trade.

Yes, partially.:) It's also partially my quest for higher fidelity versions of Pink Floyd albums.

Alright...are we gonna go on a 5:1 ratio here? I get 5 Floyd albums, and you get my 1 Rush album? I've got a couple Rush cassettes I'll throw in for free.:p;):D

Sweet! Let me know what you've got!

As far as condition goes, I'm not extremely picky. They don't need to be pristine. As long as they're in reasonably good condition, and not falling apart to tatters, I'd probably be interested.

Same goes for the vinyl itself...doesn't need to be absolutely flawless, as long as it's in reasonably playable condition.

I don't really have much in the way of jazz that I could trade, but I'll poke through my vinyl and see if I can come up with anything.

I would have transferred my Echoes vinyl box for you onto CD, but after your recent little 'Rush Bashing' rampage....The only way I'd even consider it now is if you self atomic wedgied and posted pics in the Club House. Then, maybe...

What if I actually did take a picture of myself giving myself an atomic wedgie, and posted it on the forum though?

And for the record, I really have nothing against Rush. They're a good band, obviously...they've been very successful in their careers, and I think more than a few people like them.

They just don't really appeal to me.

Took me a couple of days to get past the "atomic wedgie" visual.

PM sent with list. (No Rush)

    Update:

I'm looking specifically for Pink Floyd vinyl on the Harvest label, rather than the Capital label.

Looking for Dead vinyl on any label.

My Dead collection will be getting a little padding soon...

Glen(gcstokes1) is selling me Reckoning, Go To Heaven, Shakedown Street, Skull and Roses, and Europe '72.

Thanks Glen! I can't wait to check them out!

He's also been gracious enough to throw a jazz LP or two in for free! My jazz exposure has been limited, so I'm looking forward to checking it out! Thanks again!

Still looking for any Dead vinyl, aside from the above listed titles.

Still looking for Pink Floyd vinyl on the Harvest label.

Received my Dead LP's from Glen today, they sound great...and are a very welcome addition to my collection.:)

I've never really been exposed to a lot of jazz music before, so Glen was gracious enough to throw in a couple jazz LP's for free! Spyro Gyra, and Tom Scott:"Blow It Out". I've gotta make my way through all the Dead vinyl first, but I'll be checking these two out afterwords. Could it be that I'm about to discover a whole new genre of music that I need to start adding to my collection?;)

    Thanks again Glen!!

Nah, I haven't had a tie-dye on for a couple days actually. Which is kind of unusual for me. I'm rocking out a DSOTM t-shirt at the moment. That's ok though, the Dead sound just as good no matte what I'm wearing.;)

I've been listening to these LP's a LOT the last few days. Reckoning, and Europe '72 especially. The acoustic performances on Reckoning are absolutely breathtaking. Some incredible playing on here.

Europe '72 is full of some awesome cuts as well.

I've also listened to the Skull & Roses double LP quite a bit. Great setlist on this one, and some very inspired playing.

I haven't done much listening to Shakedown Street or Go To Heaven yet. I've had Shakedown on CD for a while now, so there isn't any new material there for me to check out...I'm going to do some comparisons between the CD and vinyl soon though.

Go To Heaven? Haven't given it a listen yet...I will sometime soon though. I've actually never even heard this album before. Generally speaking, I'm not too big on the 80's Dead, and Go To Heaven is 80's Dead all the way. I'll give it a listen soon.

I've only got one Dead LP and I think it's a pretty rare one, it is "Blues for Allah". Did the boys dabble in Islam at some point? Anyway, if you get any duplicates of Dead studio LPs, I'd be interested in buying them. Good luck in your search !:)

The boys dabbled in everything at some point...lol IIRC, Mickey Hart went through a pretty heavy Islam period. That said, I think Blues for Allah was more of an LSD inspiration, than anything else. It's a damn good album...and one that I don't have in my collection yet.

I'll keep ya in mind for doubles...but one of my local friends has first dibs on any doubles I get. And she's a really cute chick, so she takes precedence.;)...lol If I happen to come across any triples, which I'm not counting on, I'll keep you in mind.

Oh yes...I've went off roading in the bedroom with her many times...She's my summer love in the spring, fall and winter...and she can even make happy any man alive. Currently though, I'm the only man she's been making happy.:D She's basically my "unofficial girlfriend".;):)

Plus, she's the only chick I've ever met that likes the Dead anywhere near as much as me...and that's saying a lot...because I live breathe and eat the Grateful Dead...they're the soundtrack to my life, and I don't think there's been a single day in the last 5 years that I haven't listened to at least 1-2 Dead songs. She's a beautiful girl, and the fact that she's a Deadhead hippie girl makes her insurmountably hotter. She even plays guitar...as do I, which adds another 20,000 hot points.

Thanks! I just might have to make this one my "official" girlfriend at some point. She's basically the coolest chick I've ever met...so it probably wouldn't be a bad idea.:)

Well, the girl mentioned above has been moved to "just my friend, now" status, in lieu of a new girl that's even cooler. This new one is also a redhead, which scores a lot of bonus points in my book. Things were fizzling out with the old chick anyway. She's now just one of my best friends..for now anyway.;)

Anywho...I'm still looking for some Grateful Dead and Pink Floyd vinyl.
